South Carolina boycott

If Swofford is going to boycott the state of South Carolina for flying a Confederate flag on the monument, maybe he should also take action against UNC until they change their name. You see, the name tarheels refers to NC soldiers during the war that famously did not retreat during a battle. When asked why, it was said that they had tar on their heels preventing them from moving. But of course any action against this "offensive" symbol will never take place.

So it's okay to host an NCAA event such as regionals and super regionals, but it's not okay to hold an ACC event in Greenville?

You are right and it is a stupid rule regardless of who is responsible. As I recall, our neighbor to the south has the stars and bars in their state flag and no one complains. I do remember the baseball tourney being forced out of Myrtle Beach and I guess that was a call from the commissioners office.

The problem is with predetermined venues. The baseball regionals and super regionals are exempt with the NCAA boycott because nobody knows at the beginning of the season where those venues will be. In contrast the NCAA basketball tourney would not be in South Carolina because the locations are predetermined before the end of the regular season.
