In State recruiting: Something to consider

(I realize I could have replied to an earlier similar thread, but....)
My take: For those of us/ya'll that dismiss the importance of In State recruiting, consider this:
Yes! We are currently pillaging GA for elite talent, but our current thorn and monkey on our back is USuCk!! We NEED as many elite or even semi-elite IN STATE talent as we can possibly get, because these IN STATE boys......GET IT!!
And by "GET IT", I mean the RIVALRY with UsUCk!! Most of these Ga/Fla/NY/Md, etc boys have no clue (yet) the importance of this rivalry.
Think back to that game last year when that A$$hole swearinger stood over Andre Ellington after that hit!?!?
IF Ben Boulware were on our team at the time, he would have been kicked out of the game, and swearinger would have left on a stretcher for the hospital!!!
We need some of that 80's FIRE back, and it will only come from some those IN STATE boys....that "Get it".
This is SC, and the days of losing the likes of Clowney should end, and end soon!!
What say you???
GO TIGERS!!!

Our tutors would have taught him to read with the blocks that they teach him to throw in the fire place at uscuc to keep them warm.

I understand what you are getting at

and all of us Tigers want to win the game against USuC. Having said that, you recruit the best that you can....sometimes those young men are here in SC, sometimes they are not. The reality is that while it is painful to admit, USuCk actually did recruit pretty well for a couple years during the end of the Bowden years/beginning of Dabo's tenure and very likely took advantage of Clemson's down period during the transition. It translated to results on the field for them. Tip your hat to them for 4 years in a row and go out and stomp them this year. As far as recruiting goes, if they are quality and in-state, by all means go after them and hopefully get them. However, one should not load up the roster with them solely because they are in-state.

South Carolina Athletes Not Qualified For CU

Unfortunately, as we can tell from the recent recruiting years, Usuc has pretty much owned the state of South Carolina. I bet most of their recruits could not get into Clemson because of their poor grades and SAT scores. So, we have to get smarter kids from somewhere-like GA.
Until the South Carolina athletes get smarter, the trend will probably continue. And I sure do not advocate making Clemson easier to get into!!

Tiger torque, "You are full of chit. Have to get smarter kids from somewhere-like GA" first of all I guess schools in SC aren't worth a crap! Guys like Lattimore ,hollaman, cann, dj park are all smart to name a few and could have easily got into CU.

I absolutely agree with you as well. We take elite talent, where we can get it (FL, GA, Etc), & I am not advocating loading up on in staters just to beat USuck! After all, is just but ONE game on our schedule.
I guess my main point is that whever possible, IF Elite talent exist year to year (Clowney/Bowers/Ellington, examples), they NEED to be playing for Clemson.
I also think that ALL incoming out of Staters should be encouraged to watch footage of "the brawl", "the catch", etc, and have it engrained in their conscience that THIS GAME above all others is the one that losing is just not negotiable.
Another idea: Have them go to a game at the Cockroach wearing Clemson apparel and see what it really means to be a Tiger!!
Going back to Swearinger, as bad as that pr.ick pi$$ed me off....he should have tought us something. And Dalton Freeman or one of our other Big uglies on that line should have "took one for the team" and layed that dirtpecking ba$#### out in his own coop!!
GO TIGERS!!!

When would they be on the field at the same time?

They both play defense, jungle boi doesn't play special teams. Dalton Freeman is from SC, he could have done it. Along with a couple other guys on OL. Shatley comes to mind. I understand the mindset you're looking for but that wouldn't be the way to execute it. It would have been to break someone's skull in on D. That didn't happen because our D had more holes than Swiss cheese. TD me if you want but it's realism
