Something I've noticed

Oct 7, 2014, 5:04 PM

With the way DW has come on it seems like we've forgotten everything that Tajh did for us. There's people on hear who make it sound like he was a horrible QB who never won a big game. Don't get me wrong, DW is showing signs of greatness but let's not forget that Tajh may very well have been the best Clemson QB of all time. (You could make a legit argument for Fuller but Tajh has all the records. Different game, I know.)

Noone has forgotten Tajh...

but college football fans definitely have a "what have you done for me lately" mentality.

Boyd is gone so there's not much more he can do for us. The same cannot be said Mr. Watson which is why he is getting all of the attention now and deservedly do.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

tajh boyd

has raised the bar and set the standard for the qb position here at clemson

it is no longer just another position on the team but an honor to be named starting qb at clemson

anybody disrespecting what he's done by dismissing his accomplishments based on deshaun watson rare abilities and future outlook aren't tiger fans

had it not been for tajh we may not even be landing guys like deshaun on the recruiting trail

I think you're being a little extreme

Boyd was a very good football player for Clemson and stood for all the right things off the field as well.

But let's be honest, since day 1, even against Wofford, he was wildly inconsistent and unpredictable. Sometimes he looked like an NFL 1st rounder (LSU), and other times it looked like he had never played football in his life.

So far, and yes it is very early, but so far every single time Watson has stepped on the field not only has he been almost perfect in his reads and decision-making, but it seems like he is also improving. Despite only starting two games, it seems that Morris already has more faith in Deshaun to read a defense and adjust accordingly.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here is how much different our offense looks even since the FSU game. Morris has structured it to where Deshaun usually sends a RB out wide, or a WR across before the snap so DW can determine whether it is a man or zone coverage. It seemed with Boyd in the game we went as fast as humanly possible and made almost zero pre-snap audibles.

Boyd was great. DW might be legendary.

Have to agree with you....spot on. When DW is in the game he makes everyone on the field better. Heck, I'm in the stands and I even feel better when he is in the game. It's almost like you know something good is going to happen. In past years, I would be very nervous when we were playing teams such as NC State. I think if DW can stay healthy only good things are in store for Clemson.
He will be a major coot killer !! :)
