from back in my Cinci days. It was my ‘local pub’, so I wanted to give it a shot.

As I first crossed the threshold, I reset, choking back the rotten cigarette smoke. My shoes immediately stuck to the floor upon entry resisting every step with suction cup-like protest as I scanned around for a dirty bar seat, not wanting to be rude at my local bar.

In surveying the room, many turned to give me an unfriendly stare, their sunken wrinkly faces searching for who interrupted their court proceedings.

As a waited for the bartender to take notice of me, I listened to the unintelligible hum of conversation between souls life had long passed by, their diatribe fatally dark and pessimistic.

After a few minutes, I quickly stood and left. I decided I could live with the moniker of rude, but if I stayed there any longer, too much of the same film on the floor may deposit on me.

With his diminutive stature, smaller frame, lower muscle mass, and dopey dwarf dexterity, it was touch and go after he’d clearly waded in too far.
