In two games under Tony Elliot

Virginia went from having the #3 total offense from last year to the #94. They returned one of the top ranked QBs in the nation and he's now at 107 nationally in passing efficiency. They virtually returned everything on their offense except their O-line.
Not a good look so far for TE...
The good thing is its only two games, so there is plenty of time to improve. The bad thing is these stats fit everyone's narrative that he was not that creative.
I hope he proves all of us wrong, nothing would make me happier.

Virginia lost its OL and the OL this season is very undersized. It will take a miracle for TE to be great this season because of that one fact.

GOt his QB back but lost his entire O-line? Nah, no problem there, huh?
C'mon man, at least be reasonable.

First year. I need a lot more than a few games to tell me what kind of coach TE will be.

Tony Elliot isnt very creative and they dont have the talent to mask how average he really is as an OC. He could be a great HC, but he will need the right OC or he will be gone within 4 years.

So the OP thinks it’s a bad look for TE to struggle in his first year at a school which has never had enough depth to sustain itself at a high level when an event like a coaching change happens? Guessing you never heard the term “white meat”?
Perhaps your take is agenda driven?

I think its a bad look for his team to have a poor offense when he returns over 50% of players from the #3 ranked offense in the nation last year, including one of the nations top quarterbacks.

Jeff Scott complimented Elliot helping him call some plays that were based on feel for the game and not a play sheet.

You answered your own post when you said they returned everyone but the O line. If you haven't figured out by now that the O line is the key to any offense, now you do.

Not only do you miss the point with the O line, UVA is actually 144th in Total Offense and not (4th according to Yahoo Sports.

Stop ruining a narrative with facts. The OP obviously has an agenda so if she/he/them/they need to tweak a few stats to make it's point then so be it.

TE is the head coach. Give the CLEMSON man some time. Next, give Kitching some time as well. Next - look at that OL as other have mentioned. That OL is beyond bad. Combined that with Illinois decent secondary and it was just a bad match for TE. QBs can't do that and survive. LB will love it.
Two other things, pay attention to Syracuse. Their offense coordinator Anae was UVA's from last year. The obliterated a few very underwhelming teams. That said, he tends to tear apart average/low power teams and then really have a rough go when he hits a legitimate defense. Against ranked teams or other "better programs" it is a stuggle for him to score 20... but will score 40-60 against also-rans. Tells you he can coach but stuggles coaching above his talent.
Next Higher offensive stats also suggest other struggles. UVA was still 6-6 last year (a good result... for them). They also could score 35+ and still lose by several possessions.
Finally, look at UVA's D. Not bad. Start with D, then add offense.
