The last time South Carolina beat us 3 in a row... [Part 2]

Building upon Completely Solid Orange’s theme, I would like to assist in putting things into an historical perspective.
How long ago was that? Well, at the conclusion of that last three game streak [circa 1970] . . .
1. Richard M. Nixon was in his first term as President . . . and Watergate hadn’t yet happened! 2. Man had landed on the moon only a year previously! 3. The Braves had been in Atlanta for a mere five seasons! 4. Larry Wayne “Chipper” Jones, who will retire at the end of this season (at the age of 40) with 450+ home runs, hadn’t been born! 5. Paul McCartney announces that the Beatles have disbanded! 6. The NFL and AFL had just merged, and they had only played four Super Bowls! 7. The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins were each in their fourth year as a franchise! 8. “Houston, we have a problem.” The Apollo 13 mission to the moon was aborted and became an historic rescue mission. 9. The ABA wouldn’t merge with the NBA for another six years! 10. The average new car cost around $3,542 and you could pump a gallon of gas for 36 cents! 11. The US invades Cambodia as part of the war in Southeast Asia. 12. For the first time, the census counted over 200 million people living in the United States! 13. President Richard Nixon signs an extension of the Voting Rights Act that lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 years of age. 14. M*A*S*H (the movie, not the TV series) was released in theaters. The TV series wouldn’t start for another two years. 15. A postage stamp for a first class letter cost 6 cents! 16. Jimmy Carter Wins Election . . . for Governor of Georgia! 17. Ronald Reagan Wins Re-election . . . for Governor of California! 18. John Wooden and UCLA become the first team to win four straight NCAA basketball titles . . . and would go onto to win another three more consecutively! 19. Originally billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace and Music", what became known as Woodstock occurred in the midst of said streak. 20. The Jackson 5 make their TV debut on American Bandstand. 21. Hank Aaron becomes the 9th MLB player to get 3,000 hits (but was still 4 years away from breaking Babe Ruth's home run record)! 22. "NFL Monday Night Football" made its debut on ABC TV as the Cleveland Browns defeated the visiting New York Jets, 31-21. 23. Gold was valued at $35 per ounce. 24. The North Tower of the World Trade Center is topped out at 1,368 feet, making it the tallest building in the world. 25. The “Cold War” between the US and the USSR was at its peak. 26. The Boeing 747 made its first commercial trans-Atlantic flight from NY to London.
. . . and on and on.
So they win three in a row every four decades. So they think they own the world. Let’em! Put it in perspective: we know domination. A record of 27-10-1 between their streaks is a 72.4% winning percentage. Our Tigers had five streaks of three or more wins during that time, which included four classes of players who never lost to them (something they’ve accomplished ONCE and only once in the entire history of the series!). Cock-a-doodle-doo!
The world wasn’t created three years ago. History is what it is.
So, say it loud and say it proud: “GO TIGERS!”

Actually, I think they were only 2 or 3 years removed from probation at that time too...

Which event in time more likely impacts on a future outcome?
May 3, 2012, 2:33 PM
|
|
a) An event that happened nearly 40 years ago with zero overlap of personnel
or
b)Events that happened 12, 24 and 36 months ago with overlapping personnel
I'll take answer b).

Just don't be shocked if it goes to 4 or 5 in a row. Nobody despises SS more than me but the trends are clearly in his favor.

times in a row. So USuc beats Clemson back to back every 40 years!
Should I be happy or sad to say that I may not see it again in my lifetime?
