Then the next penalty was that holding on Trufant that was nuts too. That was such a bad call. Officials are calling a lot, but there has been some sloppy play as well.

I tell you, DB's get away with murder. A DB no longer has to play the ball, or wait until the receiver touches the ball before grabbing, shoving, or hammering him. Get beat deep? No problem; don't bother to turn around and look for the ball, just tangle yourself up with the receiver, and 9 times out of 10 the ref will swallow his whistle. Same thing with recevers coming across the middle when they get position (ahead of or in front of) on a DB or LB. The defender is beat, but almost every time will hit the receiver from behind well ahead of the arrival of the ball, all while reaching around so it looks like he's "playing the ball". Again, probably 99 times out of 100 refs ignore the rule. Announcers call it good defense or a "bang-bang play", when in fact, it's blatant, obvious, text book PI. You see it in college too.

Apparently it's okay if they consistently get it wrong; consistency is more important than getting it right. To hell with the rules.

That face mask on the kick return almost twisted the returners head clean off.
