IMHO Cole Stoudt is not a D-1 QB. Here is why!

Oct 26, 2014, 5:56 AM

1. He has virtually no pocket presence. He hardly ever steps up in pocket and scans the field for open receivers. Watch game film there were open guys on alot of plays he failed to spot.

2. His time management is shockingly poor. One would expect this from a Freshman or Sophmore QB but not from a QB who is senior and is in the same system for a long time.

3. Taking sacks in the field goal territory. It was 3rd and long and Clemson were in a FG territory. All he had to do was scan the field if nobody was open just take off and get any positive yards possible or just throw the ball away and take 3 points. He took a sack that put us out of FG territory. Not excusable.

4. He has no deep ball whatsoever. His entire game is just short screen passes and hope the receivers make plays for him.

5. Those picks were just as ugly as they can get, it wasn't any tipped balls or WR running poor routes, those were just absolutely atrocious looking throws. He is lucky because he could have had 4 INTs against Cuse. Not to mention his luck against UL and BC. As they dropped some easy INT too.

I know he is all we have at the moment and we are by far the luckiest team in FBS to have a stellar defense just in right time, we could easily be 5 loss team by now if we had just an average-good defense.

Unlike most of you I don't blame Coach Morris, when he has QB his offense runs like well oiled machine.

MY SUGGESTION: Coach Morris need to run as fast tempo as possible with CS, he seem to do relatively well when we are going blazing fast. That means less thinking and more doing and that is the only way to get maximum out of him.

(sorry for spelling errors, typed on phone)

Those picks were just bad throws lol?

Oct 26, 2014, 6:23 AM

Dude had guys in his face all night. 1st pick he's getting drilled from an unblocked guy as he throws and the ball hangs up. 2nd pick a guy (who blew right through an attempted block) is hitting his arm as he throws and he flies off to the right as a duck. Just not buying your argument.

Now Cole is not a really good QB by any stretch of the imagination, but he's not getting any help out there and as a backup I think he is doing a serviceable job. He ain't Deshaun and will never be Deshaun, but some of the criticism on here is ridiculous!

Sorry but super slow delivery lead to getting pressure. I'm not mad at Cole I'm mad at the coaches. We should have seen years ago this guy didn't have it and brought in more qbs. No way this team should have had to count on a true freshman qb.

There was this f5-star named Chad Kelly.......***

It is becoming excrutiating for me to log on during games and read some of this doomsday/fire Chad/bench Cole rigamarole . These people have dissatisfaction that are borderline ocd . I get weary just reading some of the anti-Tiger vitriol from people who call themselves fans ...or worse , alumns.

So is that how you would justify INT?

Oct 26, 2014, 6:46 AM [ in reply to Those picks were just bad throws lol? ]

That he was under pressure? If thats the case then we should throw 3-5 picks every game. If he was under pressure he should have thrown the ball away or worse even take the SACK instead of tossing the ball up for grabs. Thats about the worst decision any QB can make.

What about other points I raised? Whats your response to those?

?? Must have been a great college quarterback yourself , having so much knowledge about actually playing the position and all.

What sort of argument is this?

Oct 26, 2014, 6:51 AM

That means you can never criticize Obama or Bush because you never been President?

I don't do politics on account of never having taken much interest in people that lie and swindle for a living .
Exist among them , that is my motto.

It also means you cant criticize TNET members because

you have never been them either.

Responding to your argument that the INTs were nothing more than very poor throws.

Why don't you show how much time he had before the rush got to him. He had plenty of time to find a receiver most of the night. Tired of everyone defending this guy. He makes bad decisions and it WILL cost us a game before Watson returns.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

if you watch both plays he had zero time

Oct 26, 2014, 3:09 PM

Both guys came at him virtually unblocked.

In those picks - look at all that wide open green area that if he had field presence of mind, he could have slipped into and either checked down his receivers or made a run.

Truth is - Cole makes the O line look more depleted than they already are with his lack or peripheral and playmaking ability. He may have a cannon and a surgical strike, but he doesn't have the presence of mind to slide 3 feet to one side to buy an extra second.

Look at where his body is in relation to his front foot in that first frame. That is a poor decision no matter how you slice it. Like another poster mentioned the second one doesn't happen if he could move his feet in the pocket at all without bringin the ball down to run.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good pics - a few slide steps left and the pocket ...

Oct 26, 2014, 8:50 AM [ in reply to Those picks were just bad throws lol? ]

Looks solid with open throwing lanes. Right one CS is not instinctive in the pocket.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What good does it do to criticize CS?

Oct 26, 2014, 9:02 AM

Kid is trying his hardest in a difficult situation (not much of an OL). I'm sure he wishes he had the God-given talent of a DW, but he doesn't.

Criticize the coaches...sure. But leave the players alone.
