I may have to sit for a year, may even get redshirted depending on roster talent, which would actually be better as I’ll avoid injury. I’ll get more snaps in my sophomore year, then be ready for my coming out party in my junior year.

Or, the NCAA may decide to revoke the charters of the California schools leaving them high-and-dry.
I love Clemson football, and I love it in a large part because it's being played by amateurs.
I love watching guys like TL, DW4, and Sammy Watkins. But, if those guys aren't/weren't playing for Clemson I would never watch them. In fact, I don't really care about the NFL and rarely watch.
9/10 of the Carolina Panthers player roster is better than Clemson's right now. I've watched the Carolina panthers maybe 2x over the past 2 seasons. Does that mean I don't appreciate great football players? Of course not. But I love watching Clemson's amateur student-athletes more....even the guys that never make the NFL. Watching the Ben Boulware's of the world play is 100% more entertaining than watching a pro.
To break it down, I prefer to watch an amateur walk-on wide-outs play football at Clemson than Sammy Watkins playing in the NFL.
So good luck to Mr. *5 star junior high football player in California. I'll probably never see him play.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment. Several other states are taking this up though and may do so in different ways. GA has even propose this in the statehouse. Didn’t see that coming.
I don’t think it can be simply compartmentalized.

to stick with amateurs... basically 3 stars and compete with the Woffords and Erskines of the football world. Are they still your team? Easy answer for me, yes.

I had to endure the Hatfield and Tommy West years when I was in school, so in a way I’ve already lived this scenario.
My overarching point is that even though this California law doesn’t go into effect until 2023, it’s impact is likely to be felt sooner than that.
