It got me to thinking about the top 5 best losses in Clemson history.

1. 2008 football loss to WF that got Dabo hired.
2. 2003 men’s basketball loss to FSU in ACCT that got Shyatt fired
3. 2022 baseball ACCT loss to VT that got Monty fired.
4. 1976 FB loss to Maryland that got Red Parker fired.
5. Orange Bowl loss to WV that got Steele fired and BV hired.

There are no good losses. And there are no bad wins.

I guess you didn’t get the point they were making. Historic losses that sealed the fates of coaches that needed to go. Brownell has had 13 seasons which equate to about ten years too many. This experiment failed long ago. It’s beyond time to change up the leadership around our basketball programs. It’s head scratching g as to why we don’t invest in basketball. Those schools that do make more money off basketball than we do off of football. We can do it all. Clemson has the funding and the boosters to be competitive in every sport.

I understood the point. They are still not good losses. They may have been the last of many bad losses under that particular coach, but there are no good losses.

In some weird way the 2016 loss to Pitt in football could be included on this list. I've always felt the loss lit a fire under this team and played better afterward.

That was a great Clemson football team. However, as I recall, several other top ranked teams also lost on that Saturday, so the Tigers did not drop very far in the rankings.

Names of those who called it a good loss?

I think we still dance, but I see no silver lining. We, once again, showed we were willing to lose it from beyond the arc, rather than going inside where PJ’s fg% is considerably more respectable.

No such thing as good losses....all losses have a negative impact

That goes for every single sport

Not a good loss but could be a lot worse losses***

You left out whichever loss that got Ken Hatfield "resigned".

The 1993 loss to Wake Forest, second year in a row losing to the Deacs, got Hatfield "resigned."
