instead of beating NC State 3 times and not making the Tournament while State did, we lose to NC State and make it in and they don't?

Apparently that's how it works. Better to beat a good team on the road. Home loss to crap team doesn't count.

Don't underestimate the ability of this team to lose their way out of the tournament. They're in "right now" but they could still crap in their bed. Does the committee take a team with a losing conference record?
