Silverbacks: Student died in Mtc Accident in Thornhill 80's

Jun 20, 2016, 2:37 PM

My son (Clemson student) was taking off from our house last night on his motorcycle after spending the day with his old man. We're both motorcycle riders, and he knows that motorcycles have the best parking on campus. His Mom and I have no problem with him riding a motorocycle.

I was telling him the story of the young man that died in Thornhill Village while I was at Clemson. I happened to be visiting friends in Thornhill that night and was the fourth person on the scene.

Unfortunately, the young man made the fatal decision to ride his motorcycle after getting drunk. He crashed within 100 feet of his starting position.

So, today, I was using Google to find some information on the accident. No luck.

I know it was between 1984 and 1989, but I can't find any info.

Do you recall the accident? Or, any details about who/when?

TIA

Wish I could help. There was a wreck in the late 90's where

Jun 20, 2016, 2:41 PM

a drunk kid drove his pickup up Earle St hauling ###, went through the empty parking lot across from backstreets, jumped the berm, and went through the side of the Sig Ep house (into their bathroom as I recall).

Something like that would be photodocumented for eternity now, but there's no sign of it on the interwebs.

I was there, 85 through 88 and do not remember it.

I didn't spend a lot of time on campus but it was a lot smaller. Maybe I just forgot.

I was in Thornhill 82-84 and don't remember that.
A guy behind us messed up his back and leg falling off the roof trying to put a couch up there but that's the worst thing I remember.

sorry I could not be the answer to your question.

mine was in front of Bowman where you come out of university ridge. She had blonde hair and was driving a gold honda accord.

I've had two friends of mine from Clemson killed on bikes.

Neither happened in Clemson, neither was the product of the rider drinking. One was killed the summer before his junior year in Spartanburg, the other long after we had all left Clemson in his hometown in Maryland. And I know this helps you nada, but it made me think of John and Dale, both really good guys.
