Should NCAAF do away with conferences?

Dec 3, 2017, 1:07 PM

Honest question. There are "Power 5" teams who have no business playing these teams that are in the playoff conversation. There are teams in P5 conferences just because of the money it brings. Let's get rid of focusing on playing teams in our conference. These teams can afford fly across the country, unlike when conferences we're formed and you had to drive to nearby schools. Notre Dame officially isn't even in a conference. This way talented schools focus playing other talented schools.

Still say make it a 16 team playoff. 10 P5 Division winners and next 6 best teams. Top 8 get first round game at home on Championship weekend (or use Conf Championship sites.). Adds 1 game in Dec/Jan. I know it would hurt the FCS schools but you could lose one game in regular season to make up for it.

No. It helps in the process. Worked out well this year too.

It weeded out Auburn and Miami. We also won another title. It worked perfectly.

should do away with "classes" too.... just have the top 30 or so teams and play and nfl style schedule. Get rid of everyone else...

Like UNC?

Teams can fly around the country but harder on fans.

Conferences offer a nice regional rivalry and travel arrangement for the most part but it's been diluted lately with the growth in their sizes.

Kinda ridiculous though for Clemson to not play Virginia schools regularly, and stretched out so often to Syracuse and BC.

I think we should just eliminate non-power 5/6 matchups. Want to really know how good everyone is? No more cupcake games. If the SEC gets worked OOC then they don't deserve a team in. Don't let Bama and Florida completely avoid playing away games OOC.

The conferences will do away with the NCAA***
