and it's a great pistol, and hard to beat for an all-around, reliable/home protection/range/easy/fun-to-shoot hand gun. Speaking of Sigs, I've had my eye on one of these for some time:

As I told you before, I think CZ is one of the most underrated manufacturers. I really like their stuff. Checked out a couple of used CZ rifles tonight at Cabela's, as a matter of fact.

Try a Beretta PX4 if they have one. I really like it more every time I shoot it. I'm also somewhat adamant about having a decocker. I'm also very happy with the accuracy for a subcompact, and it's small enough to conceal carry but meaty enough to reduce recoil and barrel flip. And I love the exchangeable backstrap. Actually chatted with the Beretta rep about it at Cabela's grand opening this evening while Joonyer was looking at a over & under shotgun.
Bottom line is what feels good and fits good. Also, check Academy's prices before you buy...they are unbeatable IF they have what you want in stock.
All this without going on my typical 'shotgun for home defense' rant.

I love my Beretta as well, the only negative things I can

say about it is that it's a little bit fat, and mine gives me problems if I don't have it oiled up extremely well. From a home defense standpoint, I find that to be somewhat of an issue since I'm not as meticulous with maintenance as I should be...Hence my revolver shopping. But it's a great pistol, no doubt.
I do love the safety on it though, which physically flips the firing pin up, and it is extremely accurate and comfortable to shoot.

You might also try a Springfield XD. They shoot very close to what the Glock does without the Glock premium.
You really can;t go wrong with any you have liked or have been suggested.

My father-in-law has an XD, and I like it a lot as well.

I was actually about to buy one of those, but the dealer didn't have one at the time and I flipped to the Glock. No regrets whatsoever, but I'd have no problem owning an XD; the grip actually fit my hand better than the Glock, at least at first. Now that I'm used to the Glock, the XD feels weird. Another Glockish pistol that has great ergonomics and is a really sweet shooter is the Walther PPQ.

I don't think you would go wrong with any of those choices

All great pistols, and I doubt you would regret your purchase...But I would like to mention one thing, since I'm kind of going through the same thing. I'm not what you would call an avid shooter, and I mean life happens, so sometimes I'll go months without making it to the range. I wouldn't say I neglect my firearms, but as I mentioned in a previous post, I'm not meticulous with maintenance, either. I have always been big on semi-auto's because of capacity, and if I'm being honest, the way they look.
However, my dad has a .38 revolver that stayed in a drawer for over 15 years without shooting it, we pulled it out last year and took it to the range...Sure enough, we pulled the trigger and it went bang. I would not trust that any of my semi's would do the same without a failure to eject, etc. That changed my perspective a lot.

I haven't had it long enough to compare to personally compare it to Glock or Sig's but from everything I have seen it really holds it own against the Glock....for about half the price. Got mine for $270 out the door.
Made out of Daytona FL and has a no questions asked lifetime warranty that follows the gun, not the owner (if you decide to sell/buy it to/from somebody else)
Only comes in 9mm (as of now) but other calibers may be made in the future

I've looked at those because of the price, and the reviews range from greatest thing on the face of the planet to would not use as a paperweight.

Just got it this week. With work and other stuff I haven't had time to put any rounds through it.
But seems to be a well made quality pistol just by breaking it down.
Will let you know what happens

are pretty impressive. Of course, a lot of what they do to the gun isn't real world...like coating it in peanut butter and firing, but still pretty impressive. Another guy shot 6600 rounds of cheap steel case TulAmmo through it without ever cleaning or lubricating before it broke. The engineering looks good on these, and I've seen them for as low as $249.99 if you can catch a sale. At that price, I might actually consider picking one up. I wouldn't mind having a small 9mm that I would be willing to shoot cheap steel case ammo through. I certainly wouldn't do it in my Beretta! I'm interested to hear your thoughts after a day at the range.

Just to let you know...in the "instruction book" it does state that you shouldn't use reloads or military surplus ammo with it, and all the youtube videos prove that. But other than those I guess it's fair game what you want to use.

Reloads can be questionable in any semiauto, and military

surplus can be old and corrosive or hotter loads than the weapon is engineered for, but first quality steel case ammo in typical grains should be OK to shoot. Like I said, I wouldn't in my Beretta, but I do run some steel through my Mossberg bolt action .223. The barrel is chrome lined for that purpose (like the AKs), and as long as you maintain it regularly, it should be fine.

Parents are downsizing and dad wants me to keep the safe(s). One is 1600lbs one is 450lbs. The big one can not go inside my house without additional structural supports. $500 to move them. Then I have to add all this to my homeowners policy. Just glad I have two right handed sons.

of gun, from a .22 rifle, to other rifles, to pistols, to shotguns.
He's missing a .50cal rifle and pistol. Guess that will be my job. My dad finally got his Fox double barrel 12 gauge, which was the same model his grandfather shot. It is also his oldest gun....1870's I think.
