Seriously, who agrees to a 20 year TV deal with

Minimal revenue gains over the course of the 20 years? No provisions for renegotations based on competitiveness of other conference agreements or additions/subtractions of conference membership? Just no opt outs at all???

To expect that contract to be fair in 20 years is just ridiculous. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that. Heck it is now way outdated just 7 years in! And leaving yourself no way to amend it at all just in case is mind boggling!

signing a contract. Will be used as an example in business schools for rest of history.

Has to be one of worst contracts ever signed

this was vetted by tons of money-hungry erudites from all schools

yes it was terrible. but only in hindsight. did nba players in 2018 think the average contract would become 10mill by 2023?

I think the validity of contracts is viewed from multiple perspectives, including, if not especially from the future.

Long story, short - terrible contract even without hindsight that was negotiated by the league from a weak position without any leverage. No look-ins over a 20 yr period? R u kidding me? CEO’s get the axe for this (albeit with a golden parachute). The league and each school sold their souls for a tv channel. Our admin and BOT should have to answer some tough questions and, at the very least, working every angle to get out of this mess. Tough to write that, but it is the truth.

Clearly the myriad of academic braintrusts in these…

Universities failed to understand basic contract law. Either that or they phoned it in and didn’t apply any critical thinking before signing this crap. Pure, unadulterated negligence!

As said above, anytime you sign a long term agreement, you make sure there is a clear way to terminate it early should circumstances require it. Sure there may be a penalty, but it can’t be draconian either. And you need a way for it to be amended over time as things change and evolve. Nothing stays static for 15-20 years!

What in the h311 is wrong with these people? And now we are supposed to trust these folks to fix this problem? Talk about living on a wing and a prayer! 🙄

I know hope is not a strategy, but at this point that appears it is all we have. I really HOPE and PRAY those in charge now are much smarter and wiser than the crew that was in charge when this thing was signed before. FSU folks should be saying the same thing.

The brain trust at these universities entered into this agreement. Let’s not forget that fact! Every time I hear folks like the FSU BOT lamenting the ACC, I want to hold a mirror in front of their faces and remind them who signed this thing in the first place! At some point, it would be nice for the universities to own the fact they did this to themselves!

Apparently, Swofford and officials at every ACC school let the fear of the ACC's demise outweigh all reason and sensibility.

Outdated now? That’s probably true based on what the B12 and P12 was offered.

Weirdly, it technically accomplished it's purpose

The ACC hasn't had anybody leave, which is what the GOR was designed to prevent. Terrible, terrible contract terms but dang if it hasn't worked.
