about the basketball team and the season ahead.
I am freaking thrilled! Like many I've wanted to see a change in leadership for many years in hoops as Brad has delivered consistently inconsistent and largely mediocre results. When you have the worst coaching record here since the 1980's outside of Larry Shyatt, and lead the league in close game losses regularly, it just doesn't say much.
However, he is the coach, and these are our Tigers representing us and the school on the court. I don't believe for one second that there is anyone in Clemson nation that wants our basketball team to fail or fall short, in any regard. While there may be some valid expectations that that will happen due to you know who and his track record, not a soul on here that is actually a Tiger wants us to fail. Period.
So when JK runs her troll mouth putting down fans and sharing how few of us will enjoy a successful season in hoops for a change - take it for what it is - Tater Hating BS. Largely she has thrust Brownell down folks' throats not as a supporter of Clemson basketball, but in the delight gained from the frustration and disappointment that has been our lot for the most part of these last 13 seasons. When she attempts to cut into the joy ahead we can all share in with a successful season, know that it is simply because of her jealousy of all things Clemson and her hatred for our fans.
There simply isn't any true Clemson fan on here not pulling for and hoping for a great season ahead. Not a one. If Brad manages to screw this team's potential up somehow, it will stink to high heaven. Having actual high expectations on the program like we have this year is rare air here. I'm sure you all largely join me in hoping that we can deliver on those expectations big time. Year 14 - one can dream, right?
So Go Tigers! Screw the Troll! Beat UAB!

Did you ever need to lie about circumstances of his tenure to voice that support? I’m guessing not which is why I could disagree yet respect your opinion. Probably why you were selected Associate Sheriff.

I agree with much of what you said and too am very excited about the potential of this year's teams. But I do think there are some that would be very willing to see this team fail, just to get rid of CBB. Are they "true Clemson fans", I don't know. But when so much energy is spent talking about the past, I have to wonder. To me, it's not all about winning. Of course, I want the team to win. I have season tickets and my family is at most home games. I would love the chance to take them to some NCAA Tourney games. Maybe this is the year. But, we love going to the games and getting to know the players and coaches. There are some really great men on this team - and women on the lady's team. And I believe if this team and future teams start winning and making the tournament, you'll see a lot more fans at the games. I just wish the support was there now. Maybe then they will be real fans.
Look at what's happening on the football side. Folks are wanting to fire the whole coaching staff, including Dabo. That's just insane! I love the Tigers, win, lose or draw, and I'll stick to enjoying the game and let the coaches coach and the admins admin.
Go Tigers and see you at Historic Riggs tonight, Death Valley tomorrow, and Asheville on Sunday!
P.S. If you are watching the Men's and Women's soccer teams, you are a true Clemson fan. They are both playing great, making the tournament and the coaches have great winning records. Just my 2 cents.

Mediocre results? His is within a win per year of any of our coaches. Its ok to want a change but don't make stuff up to support your desires.

"largely mediocre" is accurate. Perhaps you should look up the term. I know you are very sensitive when it comes to discussions about Brownell so I'll take that for what it's worth. Unfortunately the 'win per year' deficit adds up over the seasons. Last year one single additional win would have put us in the NCAA instead of the NIT.
Certainly hoping that Brad delivers this year. It would be great to see us compete at an exceptional level. We look the part. Go Tigers.

The only reason you play a regular season is to qualify for a chance to play in the Big Dance. Making it into the tourney 3 of the last 14 seasons is generous to call it mediocre.

I just had a lot more optimism when Ellis and Barnes were coaching.
I don’t expect much out of this guy but I’m still pulling for them no doubt about it.

Nailed it and with less pejoratives than I would have used. It has always been the inherent fallacy of his argument- real fans want a coach that will quit setting our players up for failure.

"Largely mediocre"?!?!?!?!?! Some very mediocre teams have won the acc tourney. Has Clemson EVER won a tourney????? Close doesnt count. Until that day occurs, its not good enough. BB has had time and opportunity. He has piddled away ever one of those chances. Time to move on.
