SEC Historical Dominance?

I haven't posted in a while, but this is (hopefully) my triumphant return. I was arguing with a friend on Facebook about SEC dominance and how it's basically a myth this year...he made the typical arguemnet, "the SEC is down this year, but over the course of history, they are (and im quoting his words directly) "overwhelmingly dominant". I was intrigued by this and decided to do some research on this " overwhelming dominance." Here are my findings and my response to him...enjoy :)

" National championships (by conference) the last 50 years:

SEC-16,
Big 12-15,
Big 10-6,
ACC-4,
Big east-6,
PAC10-8,
Independent-5
16 to 15 is not what I or any 1st grader that knows how to count would categorize as "overwhelmingly dominate." I know SEC fans don't like to remember that there was football played before seven years ago, but that's probably because most of them don't know how to count past 7..."

I'm still waiting on his rebuttal...

Indies were nd and byu
Fsu was acc
Miami was big east
