scholarships

Jun 7, 2022, 8:45 AM

Clemson Baseball only gives partial scholarships but a partial scholarship to Clemson is less than a partial to Carolina and Coastal because their total tuition is much less than Clemson's. We could help the coach by increasing the scholarship amount thereby making it easier to obtain and retain recruits. Covid made it hard to recruit and with the cost factor playing a roll, Monte Lee did not have much room to maneuver.

I could be mixed up, but my understanding

on baseball scholarships are that each school gets 11.7 and must be spread among 27 players. I once read that some schools allowed players in-state tuition rates even if they lived out of state and Clemson does not.

we should make this up with NIL money now. The 11.7

Every school has hundreds of non-athletic scholarships and baseball players, like golfers and tennis players for example, are usually smart enough to receive academic scholarships. This is not new.

Are you sure our players aren’t getting scholarships to help with the rest of the cost?

We were living out of state at the time but my daughter was offered in-state tuition due to academics/SAT so it was a thing at Clemson 12 years ago.

My daughter attended from 2013-2017 and she got an academic scholarship that basically offset the out of state fees. It was not termed as such, but the amount seemed clearly designed to be able to make that statement. She also got small scholarships along the way for being the Tiger Cub mascot and some independent scholarships that she applied for. There are all kinds of a scholarship opportunities outside of sports.

Based on the NCAA rules, that is what all schools do. Always have, always will.

here is how Vanderbilt gets around rule.

"But Vanderbilt, a private schools, gets around this through Opportunity Vanderbilt, which promised that any student who was admitted to the school would not be prevented from attending due to cost of tuition.

“The school looked at each student’s family income, how much it could reasonably provide for their child to attend Vanderbilt, and subtracted that from the regular cost (Vanderbilt’s tuition for the 2018-19 school year was over $70,000),”
