Saturday thoughts and our path moving forward

DEFENSE
- Yes they played good enough to win, and there is a lot of talent on that side of the ball.
- There are some glaring differences though in scheme. Not a lot of pre-snap movement (D-Line doesn't shift like Venables had em do) and not really a lot of blitzing.
- FSU was not going to run Travis as he appeared to have some lingering affects from his shoulder injury. Felt we could have attacked him a little more.
- Didn't like having an LB out on the boundary in coverage over a TE.

This D is good. But we will be challenged most weeks because we look to be relying on talent alone and not utilizing that talent to attack. We will see.

OFFENSE
- Missed Williams for sure. Brown is a difference maker and his speed compared to Collins and Randall is very noticeable. Randall appears to be a back shoulder only kind of guy with his speed, so he will have to start making some of those tough catches.
- Just need a little more size and talent on the outside. I see the two freshmen playing immediately next year.
- Need a little more diversity in the run game. Wouldn't mind seeing 26 get a series as well.

SPECIAL TEAMS
- Not aggressive. FSU rolls that punter to the right every kick. Felt like we missed an opportunity to go get one of those, especially the one he had to kick from his own endzone.
- The missed FG in the 4th. What do you do ... Center cut, less than 30 yds out. Gotta be made.

INTANGIBLES
- Fumble 6 was devastating. We were 1 play away from having the ball up 7, driving, when your 4th quarter video starts. Proud how the guys responded after that. But it was killer.

- I still love Dabo. Two Natty's, for me, means I will take the good with the bad as long as he is our coach.

REALITY OF THE SITUATION
- This week's game will be no joke. Tough place to play, noon kickoff, and a place we haven't really played great outside of 2013 and 2019. Hope to get this win but it will not be pretty.

- I missed the joint press conference also this week in regards to our Tigers and the Noles leaving for another conference. I guess the biggest fear there would be that if we fall back into being on par with the NCSU's, Louisville's, etc. of the ACC, will we remain as hot a commodity as we have made ourselves over the last decade?
