Saban on UM's Offensive Huddles

The game has really changed - and it's turned 180 degrees wrt offensive huddles and defensive call timing. Here's a snip lifted from the link below that suggests a partial reason why we've had offensive troubles over the past 2-3 years.

In other words, unless your no-huddle has a tempo, the defense can call its play, knowing the opponents’ formation. In the Rose Bowl, Alabama’s defensive coaches had to call alignments without seeing the Wolverines’ formation because there wasn’t time.

When we started running the spread offense, it was HUNH and we wanted to run 80-100 plays per game. I suppose for a lot of reasons, we slowed it down recently - and that slow-down fairly overlays our period of offensive problems.

On our last series of downs against Kentucky, we looked much more like our older teams, because we were in the 2-minute drill - pretty much HUNH. The results were great, partly because Kentucky's D-Line was gassed, but likely partly because of what is suggested in the article - they didn't have time to set a D against what we showed before the ball was snapped.

I hope we have the talent to go a lot faster next year, because I think it will show much better results.

by players. They ask him "Are you going to be here for 4 years?", and he asks them back "Can you guarantee me that you are going to be here for 4 years?". They say no.

I don’t get how people justify hating nick saban other than the fact that he’s just really good. Like what is it about the guy that is so odious? He’s smart? Funny? Really good at what he does?

I have never had an issue with the guy and have a lot of respect for him in what he has accomplished in his coaching career minus the NFL portion.

My main issue with him is those AFLAC commercials.

Saban is on the way put. Sounds like 4 years.

These 2015'er Clemson fans better knock off the crap dumping on Dabo. Knock it off like yesterday. Once Dabo leaves, Clemson as an elite program is done.
