Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Hospice care can be such a good thing for the patient and the family.

It’s a shame it’s used as little as it is and so often so late in the game.

Most patients in hospice or eligible for hospice care are on Medicare. Medicare generally covers hospice care well.

I think the main deterrent for terminally ill patients not being in hospice is generally the families and on occasion the patient, not accepting that they are in an end of life situation. Acknowledging that fact can be difficult for many to accept.

I was an RN once upon a time. I left it to be self employed. I did ER and CCU but always said if I ever went back I would do hospice care. When done right hospice care is a beautiful and rewarding specialty.
