Romney keeps 4% lead over Obama

Aug 9, 2012, 12:43 PM

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

The American people want to fire Obama. It's pretty clear at this point. For an incumbent president to be behind by 4% at this point in the election is horrific for him.

Americans are wising up and not buying the blame bush line anymore. They want real solution to fix the economy which after 3 and a half years of Obama and a trillion+ in spending is still in worse shape than when he took office.

I can disregard most of the goofy stuff you said as opinionated flapdoodle, but nobody in their right mind would argue that the economy isn't better today than it was in January 2009.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's been on a downward trajectory since

Aug 9, 2012, 1:02 PM

shortly after Obama took office. Of course there are ups and downs, but the general direction is down. The thing to remember is that you need to create jobs every month just to keep the rate constant. To bring it down, jobs have to increase faster than they did during the Bush years--and they have, on average, since early-to-mid 2009.

"Indeed, Sageworks’ data shows privately held companies’ sales have increased by an average of 8.08 percent in 2012, on the heels of 8.25 percent sales growth in 2011. Net profit margins, meanwhile, have increased to an average of 6.84 percent so far this year, compared with 5.87 percent during 2011."

Romney is losing and losing ground everyday. His favorability is the worst ever for a GOP candidate.

Re: Romney keeps 4% lead over Obama

Rasmussen had Obama trailing all the way up to the last week in 2008. He's a GOP poll whose job is to keep people like you hopeful. Rasmussen doesn't show his internals so we have no idea what kind of people he asked in the poll. In the polling world Rasmussen is least respected.

But if it keeps you happy that's all that matters

Rasmussen tries to set a narrative for the election cycle. They are constantly biased towards Republicans. And in the last week of the campaign they doing an actual accurate poll to show they are not biased. They do this quite often.

Re: Romney keeps 4% lead over Obama

Aug 9, 2012, 3:05 PM

From the article:

Rasmussen’s polls have come under heavy criticism throughout this election cycle, including from FiveThirtyEight. We have critiqued the firm for its cavalier attitude toward polling convention. Rasmussen, for instance, generally conducts all of its interviews during a single, 4-hour window; speaks with the first person it reaches on the phone rather than using a random selection process; does not call cellphones; does not call back respondents whom it misses initially; and uses a computer ###### rather than live interviewers to conduct its surveys. These are cost-saving measures which contribute to very low response rates and may lead to biased samples.

The American people want to fire Obama.

No, about half of them do. The other half want him to be president for another four years (43%), or are undecided (5%).

Perhaps you weren't around for the 2000 election. Do you think the voting majority voted for Bush?

But I guess under your theory of reality you'd have to admit that America wanted to hire President Obama in 2008. And if Obama wins again, then America wanted that, too.
