Rolling Stones vs The Beatles?

May 24, 2012, 9:12 PM

Was debating with a friend a mind who was better. I said Stones he said Beatles. Can't go wrong with either but who y'all think is the best?

I'll bite, I will always be a Beatles guy, based on the depth and breadth of their catalogue. Love the stones too, but they basically did one thing amazingly. The Beatles hit just about every genre and created so many musical hooks and melodies that are still in use today.

Stones. I just don't think of fun when I think Beatles.***

Stones by a vast margin, and that is saying a lot cause the Beatles are cool too.

Beatles....

May 24, 2012, 9:43 PM

I like The Stones, but anyone who was around at the time will tell you that Sgt. Peppers changed everything. There probably isn't a day that at least one Beatles song doesn't play in our home and our children learned to sing along at an early age.

pop/rock music, and were inextricably tied to the cultural revolution of the sixties more than any other entertainment act.

Well the Beatles don't exist anymore.

The Stones have been touring for years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Though by one measure The Stones have it over The Beatles

May 24, 2012, 10:06 PM

AMAZINGLY most of them are still alive!

Brian Jones was technically out of the band when he 'drowned'.

Stones.

Beatles were very creative, melodic, harmonizing dudes that changed the world. I occasionally listen to a few of their tunes.

But the Stones are the World's Greatest Rock n Roll Band, also had their share of creative mega-hits, but what I enjoy the most are their blues and R&B tunes. I don't listen to the big hits too often, but I listen to the Stones everyday.

Beatles had far more impact, and would be my favorite; but

May 24, 2012, 10:16 PM

the Stones continued to be relevant and churn out great music for decades after the Beatles went away.
