Spooneye made the astute metaphor that Trump pardoning this guy, Flynn, and Bannon was basically tantamount to the Joker emptying Arkham Asylum, so the crazies could all crime some more for him.
Stone got 40 months last time, before the pardon. But Trump has no more pardons to offer...and I somehow doubt he'd pardon Stone anyhow after hearing this.
Considering that Oath Keeper who was driving Stone around in the golf cart on 1/6 has already pled guilty to Seditious Conspiracy and turned state's evidence for the grand jury Garland is now running on That Fun Day At The Capitol, I suspect Stone could well get a whole lot more than 40 months this time around.

If by "lone adults in the room" you meant that Jared Kushner was opposed to DJT by being on board with most of DC's other politicians / high level staff as far as doing self-interest deals with P.R.China, then I've got to agree with you.
DJT was committed to reducing P.R.China's 'footprint' on the USA; patriot that he was, J.Kushner did his darndest to undercut his father-in-law on the PRC thing.

I'm not saying Kushner didn't have his own objectives, but they certainly weren't "make obsolete the Constitution to retain power by any means necessary."
Trump has multiple people in his ear encouraging him to do extra-judicial, downright tyrannical things both before and after the election. Kushner/Ivanka probably threw a wet towel on more than we know.
Bannon hated Kushner. So did Stone. That's not a coincidence.
