the intramural courts in Fike Fieldhouse when I was there. He was your prototypical big bruiser John Mackey type tight end, but a touch more athletic. So sorry to hear this. Cancer is a heartless beyotch.

Bennie's passing....but, if accurate, he truly deserves any and all accolades he receives
He was an exceptional player during his years at Clemson, and yet, I don't think anyone would argue the fact that---after his standout career with the Steelers----it became obvious he was underused as a Tiger.
And one of the best Afro haircuts on campus!
RIP Bennie.

That's sad news to hear of Bennie Cunningham.I did not start going to Clemson games until 1977 so didn't know much about his College days other than reading that he was All-ACC and All American but I saw a lot of him in the Pros when he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a good one and will be missed and hopefully something will be done in his memory at the Football stadium as well as the Football Operations building.Maybe one day hopefully soon he will be inducted into the Clemson Ring Of Honor.

I remember watching him play in the first Clemson game i went to in 1973, the UVA homecoming game. Been a fan ever since. He was always a class act. And a local player that did well at Clemson.
