RIP - Hal Davis

12

Oct 12, 2023, 6:02 PM

Tiger HB '62-'64......... one of the best HBs I've ever seen and one tough runner.

Several times I cheered as I watched Hal break around the left side, get one-on-one with the safety and instead of trying to juke him, Hal would slow down, freeze the safety, then put his head down and run straight into him.

Hal was my favorite Tiger RB of all time - maybe not the slickest, but certainly the toughest!

RIP, Hal! You carried the banner with pride!

Watched every home game he played and he was great as you described. Prayers for his family. RIP.

#44 had a unique style in the open field. When he found himself one-on-one with a safety, he would put his head down and ram the defender - often causing the defender to bounce backward. When that happened, Hal - instead of running around the safety would take a step back, readjust his aim and drive his helmet into the gut of the safety again until one of them was on the ground - and usually it wasn't Hal.

Was he related to Heidi Davis who played at CU later?
