Yes, heard late last night that those conversations, brief as they were, were at an end. I wanted to post this morning first thing, but I wanted some added depth. What does that mean? It means, just to settle it once and for all, I wanted a quote (not as in-depth as Dan Lanning), just something that said, hey I am happy here and not leaving, etc. Not a "here is what we've heard or understand." The old newspaper guy in me comes out sometimes.
I asked for a quote and was told no, that he didn't want to speak publicly about it. I told our contact in the SID's office, Ross Taylor (football SID) that I was old school, but it is obvious that everyone just wants to move on. So no, he's not going anywhere, and everyone over in the football facility is preparing for the football banquet. If a quote comes across, I will share it here.

Hmm, there is no “no” until it’s public. Even then it’s not a guarantee until someone is hired. Ask Saban lol.

I was going to say there is no NO until the new Alabama coach is announced. They cannot come out and say, "I'm in negotiation to break my contract with "put school name here". They will lie until they can make it official. Nobody is off the table.
I think the one thing that would make Alabama pause at seriously considering Dabo and that his his refusal to gratuitously use the portal. Saban was not a pro-portal guy either, but when you are with the Romans to as they do was his practice. So Dabo would scare the crap out of Bama people for this one reason...It's going to be a sink or swim strategy for Clemson so it stands to reason that Alabama would weigh this as a risk they probably do not want to take.

Does anyone think that maybe Saban and Dabo spoke on the subject (at least hypothetically) and that is why we have not jumped into the portal super hard? Could we have been waiting for certain players to become available?

If Dabo ever does make the move to Alabama, he’s smart enough to do it after they’ve had a coach or two, who can’t lead up to expectations.

Why? Is Dabo not good enough to win at Bama with what they have?
Dabo will speak after the job at Bama is filled. I really believe he wants to stay at Clemson but if all other HC negotiations fall through and $15+ million per year is thrown at him, he would not want to have previously gone on record as saying NO to Bama and things change.

Disagree on the same percentage.
I think Dabo would be successful there IF they let him do things his way. I don’t think fans and even the school for that matter would allow him to do things the way he wants. Different culture.

Why not, Saban done the things he wanted to do while he was the HC at Bama. Dabo does the same at Clemson, and that's why those two coaches have been to playoffs and have played for as many NC as they have...

Some fans will sometimes get mad at Dabo for things he done or said, and I'm one of those fans, but not one die hard Clemson has ever said that we wanted Dabo to leave. IMO to want that to happen would be the same as cutting off your nose to spite your face, and that just wouldn't make any sense at all, and it would be as country dumb as someone could get.
Real Tiger fans know why we have to fresh National Championship trophies in our trophy case, they are there bc of Dabo Swinney and everything that he's done to build our FB program into a championship program!!!

Unfortunately, Clemson will be in a similar spot once Dabo decides to move on (assuming he continues at the same level he does now).

I believe he is currently the highest paid coach in college football, now that Saban retired. We haven't performed close to that level in several years.

It depends on which web site you look at. It fits the troll narrative better to say Dabo is the highest when taking shots at him. The more recent articles tend to show Kirby higher than Dabo.

He doesn’t want to embarrass his alma mater by doing a victory lab. And maybe he wants to keep the door open for when he is a 4x Natty coach…
Having said that, I’ve been to some of the biggest and best colleges in America. But if my alma mater offered me a job, I wouldn’t even bother packing the house.

IMO this is exactly why there will be no comment now, and little to be shared on the matter later as well if he's asked. Out of respect Dabo is not sharing that he told them no, along with keeping bridges intact for what may develop in the years ahead.

For the sake of a contract he at be silent. Also there is are some very vocal disgruntled fans criticizing his actions.
KNOW THIS: If Dabo leaves he will not be replaced. We will return to the post Ford era.
Although very disheartening, I will be able to pick up $20 tickets again.
If he leaves now he will always be the best coach Clemson has ever had.

I read this different than most. This actually makes me worry more! I love Dabo but when can he resist extra comment on anything? The CU Presidents comments yesterday were bothersome also. I guess I won’t be relaxed about this until Alabama announces their new coach, and it is not Dabo.

Look at the records of Bear Bryant successors until Nick came in. The 8 coaches that fell in between averaged 3 years before replacement.
