Reality of this Season

3

Sep 24, 2023, 12:11 PM

Hard to admit that we just don't quite have "IT" so far this year.
Over the great run from 2015-2019 we found a way to make enough of those pivotal plays to turn potential losses into close wins.
Now we find ourselves on the other end of it ....talking about those few plays that cost us the game.
Dabo does need to use the portal. He does need to stop hiring his buddies. He does need to make better business decisions rather than feel good decisions. He is getting paid to win games. It's the reality of the world we are in. Yes I want Dabo to build these young men into fine men and fathers.....but when all is said and done, he is paid to make the tough decisions and those are business oriented, winning results decisions. And finally I think he made some terrible decisions with the clock and not being more aggressive about scoring the last drive down. Playing for a field goal with a young man who had not touched a football since April before trying out last Sunday. High Risk. Too much pressure. Go for a TD.
Anyway. GO Tigers. Been a fan for 60 years. Not going to change my stripes.
And not going to abandon Dabo.

This season is over in terms of meaningfulness

Just a fact. Turn the page to next year and play the young guys to prep them for next year at this point. Dabo better be doing his due diligence searching for coach replacements too right now.

The one big thing that changed after this game is my distrust in Dabo’s excuse making and optimistic smoke blowing he does. From here on out, I am going to be super critical and skeptical of Dabo’s performance as all Clemson fans should be at this point too. I’ve been ardently defending Dabo when the media and other football fans point out Dabo’s hiring mistakes and his negative portal stance. Not any longer. The evidence has built up to a crescendo at this point that something is fundamentally not working now in the program. It has been on a steady decline since the 2018 year.

I know he isn’t going to get fired b/c he “won us 2 nattys” and all that jazz, but that doesn’t mean I can’t call BS when I see it while he is here. And call it I will by God, because I’m a Clemson fan first - not a Dabo fan! The way some fawn over Dabo and give him their loyalty pledge makes me wonder if he ever did leave Clemson, would those fans follow him there? I mean some of these fans act like little teenage girls smitten with Dabo. Give me a break! Get the job done and win Jack or move on! I am a results oriented fan, not a sunshine pumper fan.

Sounds like you're not buying the part about these guys winning "a national championship or two."
