It’s possible that we lose all 11 starters on defense.
Wiggins, Carter, Trotter, and Mukuba could all declare for the draft. All the other starters are seniors.
It might get really ugly next year if nothing changes lol.

I think Thomas Austin is likely gone. But I really don’t expect us to use the portal unless we have a mass departure of players after the season ends.
Dabo believes he has a championship caliber roster. He’s already creating an excuse to not use the portal. He’s telling everyone that we can win with who we have. And we have so many fans that actually believe him lol.

Ideally, Dabo would have prevented our sharp decline by making better decisions to begin with. Such as:
-Hiring highly qualified coaches
-Embracing NIL
-Being an early adopter of the portal
But he didn’t. Instead, he doubled down on doing things his way. That clearly isn’t working, so here we are.
Making drastic changes to the staff isn’t going to happen. It isn’t Dabo’s style, plus it would be admitting that he was very wrong.
However, I do expect some small changes to the staff. I would be surprised if at least one position coach isn’t relieved of his duties.
In terms of recruiting, we need to make more offers. We need to better distinguish ourselves, because right now we are not viewed as the fun, innovative program we used to be.
We need to use the portal to bring in starting caliber players. Difference makers, not just fourth string QBs.

I’ll watch here and there, but the fun is gone. I’m not a person who can see someone wasting resources, regardless of industry, and then wholeheartedly root for them. Dabo has been given a lot of advantages and yet he can’t seem to win and shows, not just no sign of improvement, but no sign that he even understands there is a broader problem beyond the turnover issues. I mean, this is the OLine he was talking up in fall camp?

No changes will be a confirmation of a commitment to let the college football world to pass us by.
However with changes, the roster is talented and the portal could plug a few holes, and a few coaching changes could bring back disciple with fundamentals. It would be a recipe for a competitive team in short order. I’m really hoping for this scenario.

I agree with the 90’s statement. I have zero hope for next year. Nor do I have hope for the future of Clemson football with current environment. We need to hope for new rules or Clemson and CFB are about to lose allot of eyes on TVs over the next decade.
No hope equals less viewers.

This coaching staff is not capable of putting a team on the field that is prepared to play and win against any opponent. It ALL goes back to position coaching and systemically rots from there. Some are obviously worse than others and some may and likely will improve and obviously no one is perfect. We are at a point where we need to see an 80% turnover in staff, with new policy and scheme come in. Fans arent stupid, they know what rebuilding looks like and can absolutely stand a loss and take lump on the path to building something, we have seen and done that before. This current mess, however, is a shame on Dabo and he needs to know he isnt helping those kids or anyone else like this.

I still want to believe we are close to being great again. Dabo just needs to let Riley take full control of the offense, including deciding who the assistant coaches are. And we need to sign about 8-10 players from the portal.

I want to have optimism again too but right now I just can’t. I’m extremely worried that this team will have some majors transfers at the end of this season. We’re not a super talented team as it is but if a few of the guys do transfer than that puts us another step behind. I’m worried that Dabo will only replace like two staff members instead of almost all of them. I mean we need to look from top to bottom. Guys like Cole Stoudt need to be reviewed.
I’m worried Dabo will only take 1 or 2 guys from the portal. He may take 3 or 4 but I don’t care if that number is 20, what matters is if they can contribute. I’m worried he’ll fill a spot with a guy who has no shot at ever seeing the field.
And last but not least, I’m worried about recruiting. Yes, this class is solid but I don’t believe it’s elite. I believe we have 17 guys committed. In the transfer portal era (especially with the policy we have on it) we should be bringing in at least 25 guys every year and I don’t mean handing out offers last minute. I mean bringing in larger (by number) classes with talent. So I believe we need to adjust our recruiting tactics.
Also worried about losing three offensive linemen to the dirtpeckers. Our OL class this year is very week.

Yeah. We definitely need help on the OL. We've all watched games where the ol opens gaps and anyone that can trot would get 4 yards. We need that!
I watched some ot the Kansas-Ok game and thought it would be nice to hire the OL coach away from Kansas as they were having success up front.
I would start with the OL and then WR coach. And maybe move Wes back upstairs and get go for a DC.

If we "stay the course" without some kind of significant program changes after this season then that UGA game is going to be ugly. So ugly that we may not recover from it the rest of the year. Kind of like what happened to DJ in that 2021 UGA game except this time it will affect the whole team...

We have to use the portal for LB if we lose both Carter and Trotter. Woodaz is good. We have no experience after that.
Same with DE. TJ Parker is great. Denhoff is bad. Hoffler probably needs another year.
