Played one season at 19yrs old. His OL sucked, no homerun RBs or WRs and we need a better QB. We saw the same under DJU, at this point it isnt on the QB. Did he make boneheaded plays, heck yes but I am not going to point fingers at him until the other stuff improves. All the good QBs this year were typically 5th and 6th yr guys, not true Sophomores.

processes things too slow. Plenty of times where he had time and took a sack. Plenty of times he never saw an open receiver because he never progressed past his first read. Never mind all of the head scratching plays he made. True he didn’t have a great supporting cast but it wasn’t all their fault either. So let me rephrase what I said and say that we need better QB play. Hopefully that play will come from Cade. Either way you can guarantee we will not be elite again until that happens. The kid can run and throw. Heck of an athlete so there’s hope.

I agree. It's what you see him doing during the play that is worrisome. He hasn't shown an elite level of knowing what he is doing. Throwing etc, that wins in HS. College, he has to process more. Then NFL, huge jump in processing.

I agree that Cade needs to do a better job of seeing field and going through his reads faster. Also he needs to have his head on a swivel when those opposing defenders are rushing in on him.

Cade and his development are the biggest issue, by far, facing our offense

O line definitely is below average or just average. WR are same, and QB. Just the facts folks. Cade is not NFL material and it shows. But neither is Shipley, what’s he thinking! Neither is anyone in the WR corps. Just not an elite offensive team.

You will be proven wrong if Cade grows like a typical QB.

Everything else will open up. Cade can be every bit as good as Max Duggan and he’ll have more weapons than Max did. It’s truly just a matter of Cade taking that next step like 95% of QBs who develop by their 3rd year.

What you cited were opinions.. almost wholly based on the mediocre QB play of the last 3 seasons.

I think that Dabo has finally realized that most of our offensive problems over the past few years has been bc of the O lineman that we've brought in, and I think that is the biggest reason that Dabo had to fire his friend and hire one of the top O Line coaches in Matt Luke, and he had to talk him out of retirement to get him to Clemson. I sure would love to know what he had to promise Matt Luke to get him back into coaching, and especially getting him back to coaching at an ACC school...

1. He gave an objective analysis of where Cade needs to improve. He did not say Cade was not capable of improving and it was time to move on.

2. I expect Cade to improve. Cade will have a full year working with Riley. The WR group will be a lot deeper and, hopefully, a lot healthier this year. The OL will have 8 months under the tutelage of Matt Luke and should be better. All of that will make Cade a much improved QB. I expect Clemson and FSU to meet in Charlotte in December.

I actually don't think that the game ever slowed down for Cade until the last half of the bowl game. It was like all of a sudden he started seeing everything that was happening on the field. That kid put together 4 TD drives just in the 4th quarter. It was like the light in his head flashed on and he said, now I can see what I have been missing all season, and he started playing like an elite QB!!!

I don’t think Cade is elite but he does have the potential to be a very good college QB/game manager; if he just eliminates the bone head plays. He may not be capable of hitting the big home run throws but he has to stop shooting the offense in the foot and giving points away. Our defense is good enough to keep us in most games. Just be a game manager.

The guy is spot on. Luke will improve the OL play noticeably with what we have. It will be sufficient enough to expect improvement from CK.

The importance of explosive plays cannot be understated and I think we will see a marked improvement in that area of our offense. Yes , due mostly to returning WRs that showed promise and the almost certainty that Moore and Wesco will bring a dimension we've been missing of late.

If that's the case it should ease CK anxiety of feeling ( he ) has to make a play.

If he just settles down and we can create explosive plays ( why Riley is here ) he'll be just fine.

Cade is a work in progress but has a great toolbox to work with. Let's remember that the wonder that Riley did at TCU was done with a Sr. That had 800 prior passing attempts at around a 60% comp %, over 40TDs and had thrown for 6000 yrds before he took over as OC. Duggan actually had a slightly higher comp % in 2021 compared to 2022.

What I'm getting at is that Riley didn't work his magic with some newbie or a turd. He had tons of experience beforehand. He made Duggan better and he will do the same with Cade. I'm not giving up hope for the young man.

Seriously, someone ( the QB/OC?) at Oregon took BO freaking NIX and made him a Heisman contender. BO NIX! BO NIX sucked donkey testes. So if he can turn from shytte to sugar, there's definitely hope for Cade.

got better and better as the season progressed. I think it was about the 5th game when he actually got command of the playbook such that he knew where his receivers were going to be rather than trying to keep an eye on his primary continuously after the snap. The first 4 games he looked just like DJ.

Keeping that in mind and adding to that his lack of playing time the previous season his advancement was quite pleasing to me. DJ should never been allowed to pat his stats late in the games when the outcomes were established. IDK why Dabo did that. It was the one think I complained about most.

Cade is going to do fine. What Clemson fans want is another Trevor. No, neither Cade, nor anyone on our team now or ever will approach that level of natural talent and skill development.

NO, I didn't watch the video in the OP. I watched every second of Clemson last season's football and know exactly where Cade is. I don't make a living repeating what Tnetters, and STSers whine about.

in a job role.

Cade has remained confident, optimistic and encouraging, not only to his teammates but to our fans, as well. He knows when he has erred, as it quickly shows on his face. Most importantly, he has retained a commanding presence among his teammates.

I believe we will see those characteristics develop and display further this season, and though, perhaps not a Trevor, he may become an amalgam of Trevor and DW4, thus producing a steady, reliable and successful leader. Our staff has to see to it that his support crew is present, well-trained and reliable on the job, If so, then it won't be just a Cade show, but a team one...precisely what we need.

Quarterbacks don’t normally come in game ready and usually take time to develop. Guys like Deshaun and Trevor are anomalies.

I don’t get how you could fall for this rhetoric when your own Jordan Travis showed the more typical QB progression and development curve. I mean just go down through the playoffs teams - all experienced QBs. That’s the way it usually works.

Honestly we just don’t know but to assume Cade as a true sophomore will be Cade as a Junior and Senior is to not understand the way things most normally work with QB at all levels - it normally takes a couple/few years.
