Brownell era coming to an end

I think Brownell is a top 5% of mid majors coach. He can coach up and recruit that level talent. He just cannot hang with the big boys in recruiting or coaching. His guys play hard but they never have a player who they can give the ball to and make something happen to win a game. The big boys have 4 or 5 of those guys. We have to scheme and pass 10 times to get a decent look and that just won't beat the better teams because we don't shoot well enough. It is time to move on to someone with a new perspective or at least a more exciting brand of basketball that attracts better players.

I've been watching, glad for the win and never doubt the effort from our team but with Brownell the ceiling just isn't very high. There comes a point where you have to try something new or accept mediocrity. We have unfortunately chosen to accept mediocrity with basketball for a long long time.

And followed that loss with a trouncing by Davidson. This has got to be Brownell's last season at Clemson. It just has to.

You need to apply for the job of basketball recruiting specialist at Clemson. I want to see how many 4* and 5* players you can get to spurn the “big boys” and come to Clemson to play basketball. Good luck!

Cliff Ellis got Dale Davis and Ellen Campbell, Oliver Purnell got great talent where people wanted to play up and down, we have money and facilities, if schools like Virginia can have a consistent top 20 program, no reason we can't either. Players will play in a system where they can show off their skills to get to the next level....

They didn’t really have any success until the 70s. Since basketball was played prior to the 70s, by your logic (the logic you say holds Clemson back and is so unfair to Brad), Virginia should have never been able to get good.

It only takes a couple to get the ball rolling. Look at what CJ Spiller and Sammy Watkins opened up for football. Then watson led to lawrence in Georgia. We live on transfers and scrappy 2 and 3 stars. That can only get you so far and that is how mid majors recruit....

Recruiting against Duke and UnC is tough, that is why we lost out on Zion. That is not why we did not recruit someone like Ja Morant.
