The president of our country had to apologize for truthfully referring to a person who was in our country illegally as "illegal". Instead he changed it to "undocumented" and apologized. That's cool, it's just our opinions. I mistook your response for your belief that I was somehow defending or supporting Trump. I'm just explaining, in my opinion, why so many people do, and it's because they fear the wacko left, which is a very justified concern, as I demonstrated that wacko leftist crap is gradually becoming more mainstream. And yes, I agree, it takes some rationalizing and blindmess to support Trump, that's why I stated "That's why you have people willing to overlook Trump's rotten character". I have wrote about this many times, people who think with common sense based on time-tested morals, ethics, and judgments on right and wrong cannot understand woke-ism and won't understand it.
We have all heard liberalism (or more accurately) progressivism is a sickness - a mental illness. There is a lot of truth in that statement.
What is mental illness or any illness? When someone's state or condition strays from the norms of society. We all get the standard blood work-up, right? What is it doing? It is comparing our personal data to the 'normal' data found in the population.
Indeed there could be brain chemistry that causes people to be so susceptible to stupidness (wokeness). You can bet, however, there will never be a study on it because too many of the people with the condition would be the ones to study it.

Why people blindly adore Trump, and it doesn't have to do with what you said.
There are some who actually think he was sent by God and that he doesn't have any of the character flaws you mentioned. The Trump adoration is far more complex, and Biden apologizing for calling someone illegal isn't what's driving people to him. This is a phenomena we have seen other times in history with other demagogue leaders. It's way more complex than what you describe.

extremely small sample size, but I have a lot of friends, coworkers, and neighbors who are supporting Trump because they feel he is the only one who will stand up to the wacky left, which they can see is becoming more mainstream and normalized. Of course, I understand it's not that simple, and that doesn't explain the whole phenomenon. I know some people are enamored and mesmerized by a loud, domineering, charismatic figure like Trump; very cultish. I maintain, however, that such a figure can only thrive under certain conditions, at certain points in history, and those conditions have been created in large part by the wacky left.

Do you care about breaking cycles of poverty created by carrying around a charge? There is a massive stigma on hiring people with records and much of that is culturally imposed and reinforced with language that brands people with a crime they committed (or didn't commit) that they have moved on from and are ready for another chance. What happens then? They reoffend because they can't get steady employment, or find housing. I prefer to use terms that aren't intentionally dehumanizing and want to work towards making re-entry easier for people so we can actually use the justice system to rehabilitate rather than permanently punish.
