Wondering if the Roman Sports Fans got worked up like us

when it was time for the season of violent man-on-man (in their case Gladiator vs Gladiator) sports games began.

Wonder too if they had conferences, a commissioner and a governing body like we moderns have..and hopefully they didn’t meddle with it as our big wheels do.

I would suppose that Caesar was the main cog back then, unlike our Prez, of dictating when, where & who..and bet he made sure the best combatants were chosen against the weaker ones and probably also mandated who won and went into the Final Four Matches.

Wonder if any money exchanged hands by the fans and if they had long lines at the concession stands or at the latrine.

Also wonder how many brain injuries occurred then or years after contact, but luckily for many they were killed outright on the Arena’s floor.

Saying, We moderns & supposedly more educated peoples (aka football fans) are no more human or less lusting for our yearly seasonal (semi-violent now) sport’s teams of talented & bulked-up athletes to compete at full speed til there’s a winner and then when our side wins we scream, yell, go over the stadium walls and congregate at mid-field to relish the victors.

Oh, bet the Roman’s didn’t allow the masses to meet at the PAW, as Clemson does, but they may have given out paws of the dead lions slayed during entertainment at half-time.

Hey, do you see what I done did here?

LOL~

Roman sports fans, so a person's prime would have been about 15 years old. None of this surprises me coming from you.

Look up the history of the Blues vs Greens in the Hippodrome of Constantinople. A sports rivalry literally saved the empire from the Huns.

Those crowds were seething to watch death, not bc they didnt like it but bc thats what they came to see. I understand a lot of college football fans are absolutely moronic and idiotic but so far we don't cheer and jeer for the death of the losing team, we'll maybe Gamecock fans do.
