Will Putnam's advice to Clemson teammates playing in WB for their first time.

“Keep your helmet on. That’s something that has stuck with me ever since my first game there,” Putnam said. “ Win or lose, I always keep my helmet on running off the field. They got their net and people are still throwing stuff, trying to get through it.”

I’d be embarassed for my team to be known for being such trash. We may not win em all (heck we may inexplicably find a way to lose this one) but the dirt peckers fan behavior is unacceptable.

A friendly PSA:

DO NOT bring your infants. We will confiscate them and toss them from the upper decks.

I know Carolina fans talk about bad Clemson fans, but playing at WB is ridiculous. I've never seen a Carolina fan get hit with anything let alone drinks poured on or spit on at Death Valley. Not saying it hasn't happened, but seriously, y'all got issues.

2007:
A full cup of doo doo ice and soda was thrown into where we were sitting. Mini bottles and other things thrown at us after the game winning field goal was made.

I hate that place. It was by far the worst stadium I ever visited. College Park, Maryland and Raleigh, NC aren’t far behind.

Trash. Last time I was there was about 10 years ago and I swore to myself that that was the last time… We were tailgating with some friends who were big coot money givers in their “high dollar “parking lot right behind the scoreboard and the Clemson team buses pulled up… I started hearing these “whirring” Sounds from overhead and come to realize it was the coot faithful throwing full beer cans and hitting our buses with them. I have been to a lot of stadiums including
Most of the ones you hear bad stories about and I have NEVER had the problem that I have had in Columbia

The last time I went was about 24 years ago with my girlfriend who was in law-school.

We won, but I swore that was the last time. It's an easy place to find somebody deserving of broken nose. Their fan-base is rancid.

USC,

You may be trying to make a joke, but I know many, many people who bring their kids to Death Valley regularly, who would never, ever bring them to Brice.

Perhaps you could reflect on what that says about y'all.

Of course I'm joking. I think a lot of it is dramatically overstated. You'll see the same kind of stuff about DV on gamecock boards. It's a little ridiculous. I don't know how many times I've been to WB, many Clem/USC games included. I've NEVER seen this stuff going on. Every knows someone that was hit by a mini bottle or battery. Yeah, right.

Clearly you were not there in 1977. I actually feared for my life. Liquor bottles, not mini bottles, were flying all around me. I swore then that I would never go back there and I haven’t. You can deny that it happens all you want, but I can vouch for the fact that it does.

in the past. but this was to signify our upcoming bowl game that year and was after all the gamecock fans had left in the 3rd quarter. To his credit, I have never seen a Gamecock fan throw a jar of mayonaise, a poulan weedeater, or a toilet bowl lid (when they didn't have 6 wins).

Yeah, wouldn't put it pass the dirt peckers to throw infants from upperdecks. Several years ago a few hit my BF's mom in the face with a beer. She was about 70 at the time.

Throwing stuff is always classless, but it goes beyond that when it is full cans of beer/soda or batteries etc. That can cause major major injuries or worse.

Haven’t been back to WB since late 2000’s. After we won, my friend (a coot) and I were walking back to our car and grown men were cursing at me and people threw trash at me. I was a young lady at the time and my coot friend couldn’t believe that was happening. She kept apologizing. Also witnessed a brawl and someone getting hit in the head with a beer bottle. I’ll never go back. Classy bunch

I have never been there and probably won’t ever go. I was going to buy tickets and go one year when my daughter was the Tiger Cub mascot. I was talking to a guy who had tickets advertised for sale on TNet and he actually talked me out of buying his tickets. He said he went several years before because his daughter was a Clemson cheerleader. He said their seats were in the upper deck corner and there was bird seed and pigeon crap everywhere. He said they actually had put birdseed in the visitor section to attract the pigeons and didn’t clean anything up. He said he’d sell me the tickets, “but if I were you I wouldn’t go there”. Another guy I talked to said he and his girlfriend lived in the area and went to a game with some friends one weekend when the coots were playing someone other than Clemson. He said his girlfriend’s car had a Clemson sticker on it and when they came out the car had been keyed all the way around. And they weren’t even playing Clemson.
