Sucks to see, but at least the football team is now under the total of allowed scholarships.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Whycare about adhering to this limit? Other teams don’t

3

Jul 12, 2023, 10:23 AM

And the NCAA clearly has no teeth to punish anyone for anything now. For some reason, Clemson self regulates while there’s are on a jail break!

Will Taylor is more of an impact player on the Baseball team.
Personally I want to see him do well, and will miss him on the football team.

True that, about Clemson playing by the rules, since probation in the 70’s and 80’s.
Plus our players graduate!
Rules are not for UNC or UGA, or Brandon.

Go Tigers!

Very true, and I can't blame him for going with baseball only.

Good move...

Concur 100% with his decision. His potential to have an overall positive team impact is much greater with baseball, IMHO. Football is just too risky from an injury standpoint. Looking forward to him being 100% healthy and focused for the 2024 baseball season.

Especially after his first football injury - I was surprised he returned to the gridiron.

I was thinking the same thing

Jul 12, 2023, 2:48 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Clemson dual-sport athlete makes decision on playing future ]

about scholarships. We're now right at the number allowed.

Second thing I thought was:

Was going to be tough for him to see the field much this year and be a big contributor as he never quite developed at the slot like most thought he would (no thanks in part to injury).

I see Antonio Williams having a breakout season and Brannon Spector, Troy Stellato, Cole Turner all getting reps before Will this fall.

Smart move. Baseball is his future.

Better Baseball player than football imo...

5

Jul 12, 2023, 10:21 AM

And that is not an indictment on his FB skills.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it’s the right move for his future

Jul 12, 2023, 10:24 AM

Also frees up another scholly

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No surprise there, best of luck to him on the diamond.***

Great young man. Will miss him on the football field, but know he will excel on the baseball field. Go TIGERS!

Jul 12, 2023, 11:11 AM

Good luck going forward, absolutely, and I’m sure it’s the right decision. Can’t help being disappointed though, because I saw his potential, and I also ponder if the emergence of Cole Turner was a factor. Seems like they would both be similar weapons in the WR corp. I could be totally wrong about that though.

I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.

Don’t blame him at all. I think it was the right decision.

Good luck Will! Can’t wait to cheer you on at DKS!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Same thing I posted back in June, it’s a no-brainer

Jul 12, 2023, 11:39 AM

Baseball is his best path to success. Why risk injury by playing football?

I am not sure Will has the talent to be either an MLB or a NFL guy but because he has a very limited sample size in football, this seems like the best decision. There is no doubt Will has been a big part of the baseball team and that should increase next spring.

Yeah Valley you’re probably right considering an MLB GM has already thrown over a million dollars at him. I’m sure their assessment doesn’t hold nearly the weight that yours does.

His potential future as a pro is definitely in baseball.

Don't worry about the 85 limit. A few more will be leaving when they realize they are buried on the depth chart.

That was always a given.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And, War-lar, just like that, Clemson is down to the 85

Jul 12, 2023, 1:08 PM

scholarship limit. No problemo.

I appreciate him trying both and he did look really good on the FB field before he got hurt, but this is probably the best decision for his future. Best of luck in baseball to him and hope he can help get us to Omaha.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would do the same thing

Jul 12, 2023, 1:59 PM

I hate it for the football team but, cannot blame him. Wishing him nothing but the best.

Potential to be an All American in baseball with a future in the pros. Smart move by Will and his camp.

Re: TNET: Clemson dual-sport athlete makes decision on playing future

Jul 12, 2023, 3:14 PM

Wise Will. Very wise. If you hadn’t dealt with injuries I fully believe you would have been a very good WR but sometimes players a prone to injury. Your skill is much more needed in Baseball rather than football.

Re: TNET: Clemson dual-sport athlete makes decision on playing future

Jul 12, 2023, 5:06 PM

Good decision. Football just kills the body. Baseball not nearly as punishing. Plus, it looks like he's a better baseball player. Hope Will kills it next season.

Re: TNET: Clemson dual-sport athlete makes decision on playing future

Jul 12, 2023, 5:12 PM

Probably a smart decision for the fact that he can concentrate solely on baseball. We will miss seeing you on the gridiron but look forward to seeing you trear it up on the diamond. Good luck next spring!
