Why we should keep Tyler Grisham

Sep 6, 2022, 5:04 PM

We shouldn't, I lied. Fire him and go outside of the program to get someone that actually knows what they're doing at the position. If he was a great recruiter I wouldn't make this post but he isn't, he sucks.

Also at the end of the season when Jeff Scott gets fired, rehire him as the OC.

I'm on the phone with Dabo and he said that he will take what you
said under consignment and will get in touch with you later.

Uh oh, I shouldn't have criticized Dabo. Now he'll leave the program since the fanbase knows that he's human and makes mistakes!

No it's just an ignorant comment bc it's not happening. Sometimes the guys need to make plays. I can assure you the WR are learning and training the same way Nuk, Sammy, Mike, Higgins and the others did. Clemson has a bunch of the same looking guys. That's why when Williams gets more comfortable and Adam gets back you're going to see guys who has the speed and athleticism to get open. With that said guys have to make plays.

the wide receivers dropped at least 6 passes last night and the only one that looked amazing was the rookie Antonio Williams. loved that guy and knew he'd do amazing, same with Randall. when he returns from injury he'll be hailed as the WR1. but these WRs seem to do worse the longer they stay at Clemson.

It's not because of coaching.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why we should keep Tyler Grisham

Sep 6, 2022, 5:59 PM

it's not? that's interesting because all the WRs are amazing and have so much potential in their freshman years until they get ruined by bad coaching.

if it's not coaching, then what is it? because clearly the WRs aren't developing and getting better during their tenure here.

Re: Why we should keep Tyler Grisham

It's because some of them, while talented, aren't NFL level talent like Sammy Watkins, demanded Hopkins, Mike Williams, Tee Higgins, Hunter Renfro, etc. Some are fast, but not demonstrably faster than defensive players, like Sammy Watkins, or have superior vertical skill, like Mike Williams.

That's a long winded way of saying the recruiting hasn't been quite as good the last couple of years. Why? Because Clemson has been winning big for ten years, and other teams are going to adjust to it. For example, Clemson was one of the first teams to use social media in recruiting. Well, a few years ago, Ohio St. hired away on of the social media coordinators from Clemson. Clemson was the first team to beat Alabama in a title game. LSU copied that same formula, and got Joe Burrow and Joe Brady, and won a national championship. These other teams are not going to just sit around with their thumbs up their butt and never try to counteract what Clemson is doing.

I’m sorry, did you just say that other teams copy us

Sep 7, 2022, 5:14 PM

and that’s why we aren’t as successful recently?

I just got off the phone with Dabo and he says he's not firing anybody on the advice of a TNet rookie with a falling score. He said you gotta have really strong TNet numbers before he'll listen.

Jeff Scott received a two-year extension on his contract this year. They love his recruiting and are giving him time to build the program.

you're 60 years old and your only insult is to call me a gamecock fan, and I assume it's the only one you use on this board. I guess being out of school for so long and being on the verge of alzheimers does that to you.

go cheer for Vanderbilt or Hawaii if you don't want people to criticize our team

I'm glad you're here

He wont be fired. Lets see how he does throught the year and how he looks when Cade is playing more.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why we should keep Tyler Grisham

Sep 6, 2022, 6:06 PM

cade is just going to cover up all the problems we have by making the WRs and O-line look better so you're probably right. DJ exposed our RPO offense because... well he can't do the R in RPO.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why we should keep Tyler Grisham

Sep 6, 2022, 6:10 PM

Yeah maybe Streeter adapts to DJU's playing style, but I doubt he will, because Cade needs to run that same office.

Re: Why we should keep Tyler Grisham

Sep 7, 2022, 5:08 PM

When Dabo hired Tony Elliot he hold him it didn't matter he had never coached running backs because he hired him because of "who he was" not his resume. You can hit on something that way sometime but it's a low percentage play. We hired our whole offensive staff this way.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s a scary thought.***

Could you have a word with Brownell about getting in Dabo's ear? If anyone knows how to get a team scoring points it's him. With Brad's resume I'm sure Dabo will take it to heart

It is such a shame we have some as short sighted as Dabo Swinney running the program. Hopefully better days lay ahead.
