Ding Ding Ding...finally someone that gets it. Or should I say, is clued in and not your typical click bait - I don't know how to think for myself - clown show that's been on here whining about the portal and that being the reason we had a bad season(s). Which again, for those of us who aren't "new money fans", ie we've lived through 4-8, 5-7, etc. these past few years haven't been bad by any standard, unless again you're a new money fan that's simply clueless.

So I appreciate your post as I've been saying this for a while now...I'd even say those numbers are high, especially because those (maybe) top 5-10 in the portal that 'might' be better than what we currently have; are in the portal because more often that not they already have a deal on the table and a landing spot. And if they don't have a definitive deal ready, they're looking for the highest bidder (a game we can't play)...so the portal talk is useless banter by fools.

An other simple reality is, we beat FSU up and down the field that day (albeit we blew it and beat ourselves), but that was non-portal, young and inexperienced us versus a seriously veteran team filled with portal players.

Some people are just so easily influenced by click bait and headlines...mostly because they lost the ability to think for themselves long ago, if they even had it then.

Ok the transfer portal is useless. We don't need to even look at it. Why does a lousy UM football team use it? FSU? GT & NCSU? The MTSU OT transfer was an all conference player, so he looked at another opportunity to play in P5. You can rationalize Clemson's portal use and lack of success all you want. You refuse to accept the reality, that Clemson is not aggressive in the portal. Yet, other teams are looking for experienced players. I look at the portal as an opportunity to add talent at needed positions. Not to fill the Clemson bench's! Many transfers are due to lack of playing time, I get that. But good role players and starters leave too. So why not use all resources available. Clemson has a serious lack of will and maybe money to be more aggressive.

The portal is not the reason for our 2023 season. Turnovers, Injuries, OL play, Lack of WR Deep Threat, QB play, etc. Portal should be a useful tool, not like Colorado's annual rebuild project tool. Also, if Clemson can't use it, how do we stop our players from doing so? Ihe portal game is not being played by the most ethical people. It's pay for play now.
