on the West Coast.

Now, I have to do all of the legwork that comes with a new card. I've had that # since 2013.

It's getting to where you can't trust those Ladies of the Evenings to run your card with Square! (Disclaimer: I made that part up. But I suppose it's true.)

And, ironically, the last purchase I made was to set up my RING SECURITY camera account!!!

I would gladly pay the $2K for 2 minutes with my MAP gas torch on his/her face

Did SHAZAM Credit Card Services call you? I ran into the same problem in Jacksonville,Fla. when I went down to the Gator Bowl and used my card at a gas station. The people from the Credit Card Service called me about my debit card immediately, like within 15 minutes and told me that someone at this particular gas station had gotten my number. The frustrating part it took 3 weeks to get a new card but thankfully I had another card of a different name to fall back on.

I should have gone inside first and prepaid with it with how much I thought I my need to fill up the tank instead of inserting the card in the pump...I learn my lesson on that episode

just use a CC and you no longer expose your money.

Plus you get all types of perks for using a CC.

I was helping my son who was moving to Missouri and stopped at a convenience store to fill up the U-Haul truck in some podunck town in Missouri. It was a card I keep just for miscellaneous purchases and didn’t keep more than $200-$300 on it.
By the time I got back to the great state of South Carolina some low life scum had gone to Gary and Hammond Indiana and lived it up and left $0 in that at account. Their last purchase was $2.00.

I sent it to the fraud department and let’s just say they were not very helpful. I had my wife email all the disputed charges and they wouldn’t do anything about it because she isn’t on the account. So I had her email it to me and I sent it from my work email and they said they wouldn’t accept from my email???? I ask would carrier pigeon be acceptable . After a long pause Michael said sir you don’t need to be rude about this you need to fax it to us. After I explained to Michael that was not me being rude, that was me being p i s s e d at his company throwing up road blocks at every attempt I make at delivery the needed documents to him and who in their right mind uses a fax machine outside of bowl season!

Well seven dollars and some odd cents later my seven page document was faxed to their fraud department. Three weeks later I still hadn’t received any update so I give them a call. The woman on the phone said she would check it out and returned on the phone to tell me that it could not be processed because the name on the card didn’t match the name that I signed the fax with. At this point I asked if Michael was available to discuss this, because he and I had some history. I was transferred to Michael and after some explaining and telling him I would continue this for as long as he wants.

My $205 was returned to my card.

Happened to us a couple times over the years. It’s a hassle for sure. All because of some dead-beat dishonest individuals.

Only thing I use a debit card for is making withdrawals and deposits at my bank's ATM. All purchases go on one of my credit cards, and then I pay the balance off in full every month. I get cash back on every purchase, and I've never paid so much as a penny in interest.

It's also safer that way. If someone gets ahold of my debit card and drains my checking account, the bank might help but ultimately it's my problem to deal with. If they get my credit card and make a bunch of unauthorized purchases, it's the credit card company's problem.

Same here. I don’t use my debit card for anything but ATM withdrawals. We have one CC we use for everyday purposes and one we use for on-line and over the phone purchases. We’ve had each of them compromised once over the years. The first time was the on line card and I got a call from a liquor store in NY city. The owner asked if I had ordered a $500 case of liquor to be delivered to an address in NY. I hadn’t so I contacted the credit card company and we had a replacement card within 48 hours.
