Take the NC State missed FG chip shot with clock done. I stood right in the line of the missed FG on the rock side of the stadium, ready to beat the crowd to my car. The kicker was a known choker, and yes, he delivered on our behalf. Just one example. Point being, you can be whatever you interpret in a situation, however you want to spin it.

I guarantee this also: You don't hear Nick Saban say things like this, it's always about how we could play or coach better, and we learn and move on. It would have been awfully tempting for him to say "A play away from success" on the Auburn Kick Six but I bet he didn't do it.

But I also understand what Dab is doing. Dabo is going to Dab. He's got to keep his players positive and believing, as Tommy tried to do. The difference was Tommy actually hung his hat on "one or two plays away", and it became a loser's credo. Whereas I do not believe Dab' does this.

correct i dont think dabo and tommy can be compared in anyway dabo is a legend status, tommy was average but always promised more, i think when he was hired he used to reiterate he wanted a title by year 5, year 5 quietly came and went 8-5 like most years with bubble screens and losing all the big games and he would always look for little mind schemes to quell the restless clemson fans, he was good at fooling the AD and gaining a few years extension even after failing, by playing the folksy religious bobby bowden good humor routine, but i know alot of fans saw right through him, i knew what he was about 4 years in, so it was a painful las 6 years of excuses and pretending and watching the AD fall for it again and again.

I remember when he was finally fired alot of the player expressed he had lost the team long ago and no one really listened i could kind of tell that by the weird little pre game hunch over and clap ritual he would also do, he was always just going through the motions in every way possible, dabo did i think pick up a few bad habits he has mimicked just from being around him so long, some of the ones although kind of silly that bother me are

1. when things go haywire he does that weak ### run your hand through your hire body language, i guess he doesn't realize from a viewer perspective it makes you look like you dont know what your doing.

2. as mentioned the one or two plays away routine, imagine if college basketball coaches used that i'm sure some of them could conjure up 2 or 3 extra championships if they could find two big shots per game

3. Tommy Bowden also used to say "if you listen to the fans youll be sitting right there with them" well actually i personally dont think most coaches are that smart even the best ones, just like alot of professions many people get in it with who you know not what you know, Tommy is a perfect example of that. He used his little listen to the fans line to distract from the fact he was a stubborn buffoon, i have no doubt many regular people who may have never coached in any capacity could have beaten tommy with a team of close similar talent. I think coaching is something your simply born with or not, like a musician i'm not saying practice doesnt help, but its just a talent you either have or dont and tommy did not have it, i'm not even really sure dabo is that good of an x and o coach but he is extremely driven and sometimes that rubs off when its authentic it clearly did in clemsons case.
