Valentines you remember ~~

Who will reply as to one?

One night a girl I was kinda "into" invited me over as her parents were away.
It was all magic for me, a perfect evening. She made deep dish pizza.
As she slept and I lay awake, this tune came on the radio. It is still exciting to me.

The one I never forget: Getting to leave the hospital after two weeks of isolation for a bone marrow transplant. Seeing my family, sleeping in my own bed, and being thankful to be alive gave me a new perspective on true love.

If you want to know about romance

ask me about being a Winthrop male student the first year men were allowed. Every guy could have had 4 dates a day. Once, in the student center I saw the cutest 5 foot two, eyes of blue sitting in a chair with a footstool at her feet and I sat on the stool, asked her name and after a few minutes took her hand and continued talking as I caressed each tiny finger. When she finally said she was late for class, I kissed her hand and as she walked away I turned to where folks were shooting pool. There was one pretty girl there lamenting a breakup with her boyfriend and(short story long) we ended up dating for months.... until she met some other Clemson guy.

I must admit that a lot of it's probably me; I'm a looong way from perfect or blameless, but I appreciate the thoughtful response all the same. With that said though, I do think there are a lot of problems with the modern dating culture (if it can even truly be called that), particularly for younger people such as myself, based on my own experiences and what I've seen and heard from others. A lot of it goes along the lines of what TIP was saying.

I would never make it today and I mean that. So many kids are so self-absorbed, narcissistic and just mean via social media. This whole "looks maxing" is literally making young males commit suicide. Then you've got all these "influencer's" posting pictures that have been shopped all the way to hail and back.

Kids don't even go out anymore so how they meet people any other way than online is nonexistent let alone getting real visceral life experience.

Sure, nobody is perfect, but I'll bet you 100 dollars you're worth more than how people make you feel online or from oline acquaintances.

If it's me, I'm pushing myself to join things we thought were dumb as kids; church, outdoor groups, clubs, get involved with the Y, etc. you're not alone. Don't give in and don't be afraid to work on yourself! We only get this one stop around man and it goes too fast as it is.

Thanks, BloodbeOrange® . All of that analysis is spot on. And I think that's great advice, too. I'll try to keep those suggestions in mind. I am trying to work on myself, too, and I've got some long-term goals in mind that give me hope. Just need to get better at working on things consistently and then have some trust and patience.

Most guys think they are the only dudes that have felt lost, but it's most of us. Give
Yourself grace, but push yourself for greatness. Get outside of your comfort zone and good things will happen. I've met some really awesome people volunteering.

Nobody will treat you better than you do if you decide you're worth it. Don't learn that the hard way. Meaning, take care of you to take care of everyone else.

One more step, then another.

before smart phones and technology/social media. You have no idea how much the dating and meeting girls game is convoluted now with texting, instagram and all that.

You can still have organic moments and meetings of course but at some point you still have to deal with the modern challenges with it.

The modern challenges with it are that you’re not exclusive and since it’s behind a screen; they can come and go at their will and they don’t have to give you a reason because that’s how “dating works.” I once talked to a girl on a dating app for 3 weeks and the day we were supposed to get dinner for the first time she gives an excuse that she has something that will run over and then just blocks me. Come to find out she met someone else on the app she was “more interested” in and said she didn’t owe me anything. Also many women will swipe on you but never answer a message ever. With online dating today you basically have to have the perfect 3-4 photos of your self and a bio that instantly catches their attention for it to work. Luckily when I was in the online dating world I had this, and I was talking to hundreds of single women, BUT it’s hard to make an actual connection that sticks / turns into a relationship.

That's just a great tune.

Don't remember girls name but my first real Valentine gift in jr high was giving an Alabama's greatest hits album (on CD! Huge deal at the time cause a CD was harder to get than a CD player lmao!) Not sure if she like it cause I don't really remember talking to her after but on the same hand I couldve gotten to multiple bases but during that time girls circled me like vultures and taught me the gentle ways of love skipping skewl!

But never forget the pride of getting the first CD on the rack and it was Alabama. Lying eyes! Great muzak

I've never been the romantic type. Probably my closest thing to it was back in elementary school when we used to put Valentines Day cards in a shoe box and then draw one out randomly. Privately I gave one to Sharon, who gave me a kiss afterwards.
Also my parents will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary this Valentines Day. They're both 94 years old. Now that's one to remember.

Only remember that one and it might have been Christmas. I really don't remember. Still married over 20 years now and Mrs tiger asked me outbof the blue what was my best one with her and I'm like blank because I don't put stock in Feb 14th.

Good to hear about your parents! I would be blessed to still be with mine and be that age! From my perspective that's an accomplishment that rivals landing in the moon! So glad to hear that. Ty
