UGA had zero (0) opt outs for the Orange Bowl

That is remarkable. I don’t like UGA, but the fact is they were able to hold their team together for a non-playoff bowl game, while others were not.

They had players that will need to prepare for the draft and still chose to play yesterday.

Their list of starters out last night was a few injuries and a ton of opt outs ( broadcast had them listed as "NFL").

Georgia, on the other hand, had either 0 or 1 opt out depending on whether you want to chalk Bowers up as an injury or not. He would've played in a playoff game for sure, so I think you could make a case for either one.

Anyway, Georgia certainly has alot of guys heading to the NFL too. The difference is that they got their guys to play while Norvell lost about 2/3 of his starters including all of the star players.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They did. They offered bonuses to players that would not opt out

of bonuses paid to college players to play a football game makes me want to throw up. At some point, the fans, who pay for all of this will just stop caring.

It’s not just about the money. Florida St has money too.

I hate the dawgs but I’ll give credit where it’s due. For Kirby to hold the team together after missing the playoffs is impressive. Now I’ll go wash my mouth out with soap.

What I saw last night was two teams that both felt they were good enough to be in the CFP. One of them chose to go out and make a statement while the other essentially chose not to play.

You can argue that FSU had a better case for the playoff, but Georgia certainly should've had more reason to feel let down given they won the title the last two seasons. Going from being arguably the favorite to win a 3rd straight title to missing the CFP was surely reason for Georgia to feel let down by the Orange Bowl. FSU, on the other hand, hadn't even been to a major bowl game since 2016, much less a playoff. It feels like they should've had more to play for than Georgia, but they very clearly did not act that way.

Maybe it was the pride that's instilled in a group of guys that had won back to back titles that gave Georgia the motivation?

Technically that's True .........They had zero opt outs of players declaring for the NFL draft but they had 23 players that did not play due to 18 being in the transfer portal and 5 being hurt, including 5 starters.

That being said, their depth was incredible and it also illustrates how pathetic FSU was last night, talent wise.

They didn’t have any NFL draft players opt out; however, at least 10 guys enter the transfer portal and opted out of the bowl game.

Winning 50 games in 4 years mattered to the UGA team and senior class. Kirby circled and underlined the goal.

Not really remarkable being that Kirbs wanted to make a statement to the playoff committee and embarrass FSU. Also, how selfish is for him to let potential first round picks play in a bowl game and risk injury to play an grossly undermanned FSU team?

No real reason not to play. With a 41% graduation rate, what else would they be doing ......studying?

Well, I guess we will find out in August what they are doing. Take the group on the field, add Brock Bowers, and add the #1 recruiting class in the country and you have the 2024 Dogs that will take the field in game one against the Tigers. Last time it was JT Daniels but this go round it will be Carson Beck. We will find out what the Tigers have in game one as it's already been established what the Dog's have. Sort of hoping for the best but not expecting much difference from this years Clemson. A little better on O and a little worse on D.

3...they had 3 players opt for the NFL after the bowl game...Bullard, Lassiter, and Smith...All 3 will have minimal impacts in the draft. In total 27 players have left. He didn't keep anything together! FSU was that depleted! 24 guys left FSU 17 of which were starters.

There secondary is depleted and very thin at the moment. Luckily for them our QB sucks and can't throw with anticipation to save his Texas life.
