Well for starters he wasn’t found liable for rape. The jury disagreed with that accusation and found him liable for sexual assault. With the only evidence being the accuser’s testimony and her friend’s testimonies that Carroll confused in them right after the “attack.”
He was never criminally charged our found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
What’s more, starting last fall, New York state gave people a chance to sue over sexual assault allegations that would otherwise be too old. Carroll was one of the first to file.
These allegations never came out until after he was president. Almost 30 years later. Then New York changes the law the fall before Carroll files charges. How does that not seem extremely coincidental and crooked to you?

I personally think he is innocent. Of course I can’t prove it. I definitely understand him suing for being called a rapist after he got sued for calling his accuser a liar.
One thing I don’t understand is, why not go to the police immediately? Why wait until the man becomes president to accuse him of rape?

she was appropriately afraid he would attack her character relentlessly and defame her and lie about it and try to destroy her. To the point where she had to go back to court after winning the case and Trump continued to lie and defame her. He's still doing it. Rape laws have come a long way since this attack in the late 90s.
I'm surprised you had to ask that question given it's 2024 and what we know about rape, sexual attacks, sexual abuse and Donald Trump and his minions.

Why is it constantly surprising to people that sexual assault is a traumatic experience that isn’t always an easy thing to just tell someone?
Do you know any SA victims? I do. It really messes them up, takes years of therapy in many cases and some simply never recover. It’s a heinous thing that people like you “don’t understand” and it shows.

I don't think I'd want it to happen to my wife, child, or mother. And I certainly wouldn't want to be be found guilty of it. Can we at least agree it's worse than being found guilty of speeding, or having an expired fire extinguisher on your boat (both of which I have a record of from 20+ years ago on my SLED background report)
From reading the legal definitions below, it sounds to me that Sexual Assault is legally more encompassing than just rape, so it's actually worse. From a rando lawyer in PA from Google web page:
Rape is when unwanted sexual intercourse is forced upon someone, while sexual assault is when any unwanted sexual contact happens without consent. In Pennsylvania, there are differences between these types of assault and the possible charges. Rape is considered a more severe crime because of the forceful sexual activity the crime involves.
Sexual Assault can be defined as having sexual intercourse or interaction or deviant sexual intercourse with someone without their consent. Sexual Assault can fall short of involving penetration or sexual intercourse, such as touching a person’s intimate parts (sexual organs, genital area, #### area, inner thigh, groin, buttock, breast) without consent. Criminal sex crimes can include other related charges as well, such as:
Statutory sexual assault is sex acts with a person under age 16 with or without consent.
Indecent assault, forcing someone to make contact with bodily fluids for sexual contact without consent.
Aggravated indecent assault, engaging in unwanted penetration with another person’s body without consent.
Institutional sexual assault. These charges apply to those in authoritative positions who use that power to force intercourse on someone they supervise. This can include assault of a minor at a school, childcare, youth centers, or adults at correctional facilities, detention, or mental health facilities.
Sexual assault and rape involve committing acts without someone’s consent. If someone does not voluntarily agree or participate in a suggestion, proposal, or plan, you could be forcing an act upon someone else. If someone else submits under the influence of substances, fear, or threats, that does not mean they gave their consent.

It's a technicality with the definition of rape in NY. It would be rape in SC. He's been credibly accused of sexual assault by half a dozen or more, and his lawyers paid off lots of others. Stories have been going around for many, many years, including why his father sent him off to military school as a teenager. He's utter trash.

It’s fine for him to address Trump’s sexual abuse trial, but he was a badgering little weasel for going on for 5 minutes with Mace over this issue, especially when she didn’t want to talk about this.
He needs to look into the mirror if he wants to question Mace on how she can support Trump since she was a rape victim.
Clinton was accused of rape and his accusers were treated as liars. Clinton had a young intern blowing him in the Oval Office. The superior/ subordinate issue was papered over and Clinton lied over and over until the dress was revealed.
Nonetheless, George was a loyal servant under Slick Willy.
I’m not defending Trump. Only he and Carroll know what happened, but George was a little d*CK to keep pressing this issue with Mace.

Calling George a journalist is being charitable in my view.
If Bret Baier queried a liberal congresswoman for roughly 5 minutes over the same subject, I’m sure he would get the same treatment as George. Sure.
Clinton’s peccadilloes were ignored by George, so for him to continue to probe Mace, no pun intended, on this issue ad nauseum was hypocritical to me.
I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder.

My point is his “gotcha journalism” with Mace, who I’m not a big fan of either, was tiresome and overdone.
Again, if a conservative outlet did this to a liberal woman member of Congress, the screams would be very loud.

Kaplan said New York’s legal definition of “rape” is “far narrower” than the word is understood in “common modern parlance.”

“Mr. Trump’s attempt to minimize the sexual abuse finding as perhaps resting on nothing more than groping of Ms. Carroll’s breasts through her clothing is frivolous,” Kaplan wrote.
He added that the jury clearly found that Trump had “ ‘raped’ her in the sense of that term broader than the New York Penal Law definition.”
