Transfer Portal Conundrum

When most players enter the transfer portal, it’s over a lack of playing time. In other words, it’s a slight selfishness on the players part to improve the “me” . Players transfer from great teams all the time…only thinking about themselves.

Transferring to Clemson might be a tougher sell than most fans, media, etc, think. Clemson is not a “me first”, individuals only program. Dabo focuses on the team. Clemson culture may not mesh with what most transfers are looking for.

Just my opinion. What do y’all think?

What you stated is not false, but here’s the deal. All throughout the season, every game, you heard announcers referred to quality starters on every team who transferred from such-and-such school.
Clemson can undoubtedly improve their team by selectively finding the right players in the portal. It’s a fact. It’s a part of the game today. The issue a lot of us have is that so far Dabo has generally turned his back on the portal and the result is Clemson is not the strongest team they can be.
Dabo needs to adjust his philosophy and find a way to improve the team via the portal; and he can do that while still maintaining his philosophy of team first.

There are many players that transfer because

1) They are a top player on a team and want to play on a better team

1) a) For many of these, they also want to get paid

The problem for Clemson is that the vast majority of players in this category know where they are going and how much they will be paid before the enter the portal so if Dabo isn't willing to tamper it's going to be hard to bring in a top WR.
