Emotional Venables recaps injuries, tiring loss to NC State

The Clemson defense tried to do everything it could to help out the offense on Saturday afternoon inside of Carter-Finley Stadium, but back-to-back touchdowns in overtime from North Carolina State were too much for the Tigers as they fell to the Wolfpack for the first time since 2011. Top 4 defense and a 120th ranked offense

Sep 26, 2021, 4:23 PM

Jeeze, that has to be so frustrating when you know you are great, but a sucky offense leaves the defense on the field all day to the point they a taking casualties every series. I bet BV could have called the offense game and won. Only thing is the dude would pass out from the stress of both sides.

People want to criticize the offense but can't see that the play calling causes a lot of the problems. Heck, the defense can see what is going to be ran. My 8 year old granddaughter knows the offensive play calls, so don't you think they do????

Tony Elliot needs to apologize to the entire defense and BV for leaving them out on the field for 96 plays and EIGHT STRAIGHT 3 and outs.

One could argue the injuries are attributed to the offense not holding up on their side of the ball.

Yeah they were really gassed at the end of the game. That disparity of plays for both teams was really misleading in the final score. We should have lost by a lot more with the wolfies missing two field goals and dropping two long TD passes.

Elliott is the biggest problem with his lack to see when it's not working you fix it or get out of the way & let someone else fix it, Streeter maybe. Elliott stays with his game plan no matter what happens. He could get away with it with players like Lawrence & Etienne. He obviously doesn't have the talent to design plays around a young quarterback or how to change a game plan while in progress. His play calling was pathetic against Notre Dame last year if anyone remembers. Dabo, whom is starting to coach like Tommy Bowden, his mentor, whom needs to start getting into these referee's terrible calls against us, like when they called a 15 yd. penalty for a late hit against Spector after clearing him for targeting. Too many times he doesn't get in their faces. I say take up for your players for crying out loud.
