Please don't read this and take my opinion wrongly as I think it is great that Dabo is using his position of influence to raise money to help save lives. PLEASE GIVE.
What I have some questions about is why there is such focus on Breast cancer. It mainly only can affect half the population and is not among the top 10 most deadly cancers.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer, barely beating out prostate and lung cancer but it also has the highest screening rate(basically tied with prostate).
Additionally, breast cancer is "celebrated"(meaning highly recognized and focused on) by both the NFL and CFB for an entire month.
My argument isn't that Breast Cancer doesn't deserve emphasis at some level, it is that it gets too much emphasis compared to all cancers. All major sports have a Breast Cancer awareness program, sometimes lasting for a full month, while other cancers don't even get any focus. Is this because sports want to appeal and market more towards women? Why is there not a Leukemia awareness month or a Tigers for Testicles campaign?
Once again, please be aware I don't begrudge the fundraising for breast cancer. I think it is great. I just am trying to work out in my mind why it gets the emphasis it does over other type cancers.

Breast cancer is very treatable IF detected early. The awareness and donated money leads to the purchase of mobile mammography units. There are many woman that do not have access to mammograms. These units go to work locations and will scan women regardless of ability to pay. If you have a local facility running a mobile mammography van, research to see how many breast cancers they have discovered. It is scary and impressive at the same time.
I would also like to add that Clemson does not play well while wearing pink in October. There should be no pink allowed on a football field!

The list of serious diseases which could benefit from money and/or exposure is long. My guess is he chose breast cancer because Kathleen had it so it's personal for his family.

Wow. Of all the things to complain about.
It is Dabo's foundation he created because of the family ties he has that have been effected by cancer.
You are welcome to start your own foundation.

Agreed and OP's words...

I do believe you support a cause that you believe in. I am a survivor of 18 years of breast cancer. My mother died at 64 of this disease.I attended the Ladies Clinic this year for my first time. Emotional experience seeing all the survivors and fighters on the gymn floor. Find your passion and start a campaign to raise money for it. You will make a difference just like Dabo is doing.

(The “cause” is dear to me because it took my sister from me at the age of 62. Hers was aggressive going from breast to lungs to brain to blood. She fought it valiantly for 6 years . . . and hers was detected early!!!)

Is there anyone on the planet not aware of breast cancer at this point? How about we switch 100% to research and clinical trials and drop this feel-good “awareness” effort? “Awareness” is how phony charities like the Susan Komen foundation rake in hundreds of millions without actually medically treating a bit of the cancer they claim to fight. No one’s breast cancer is being helped or prevented at this point by a football team making a huge donation so they can wear pink socks and wrist bands. It’s PR theatre.

I do believe there is a PR element which makes Breast Cancer the cause of choice but I'm begrudging the actual effort.

At lest the All-in foundation at least raises money for all sorts of causes. I know they have given to the Chris and Kelly's HOPE Foundation among hundreds others.

Sometimes it might be best to wonder about something privately when you're never going to find the answer that you seek, especially on such an emotional and personal subject that affects so many families.
Also, breast cancer doesn't "mainly" only affect half the population. You ever talked to husband that has lost his wife ? A child that has his/her Mother ? You ever talked to a Dad that has lost his daughter or seen her suffer ? They are most certainly affected.
Since you feel that breast cancer gets "too much emphasis compared to all cancers" then maybe a better question would be "what can I do to bring about the same awareness to these other types of cancers that breast cancer has achieved ?"
Just a thought.

Thanks for explaining to others. I was only 48 when 27 small tumors were found. I chose to have a bilateral mastectomy so I would not have to go through radiation or chemo. It was tough. I had lost my mom at 64 and did not want to go through chemo. I had a wonderful husband and family that supported me. If I had skipped one mammogram, I would not have made it. 23 tumors were small but highly aggressive. Dabo is providing women a chance who may not get that costly mammogram. At the ladies clinic in 2022, 8 women were diagnosed that day. My dad who played for Clemson in 1948 died of stomach cancer . We must all be aggressive with our testing and save more lives. My goal now is helping all women who went through what I went through. It was tough but I am still here today. I will be at the game in pink boots and my survivor ribbon. Yes, I will wear pink , my heart is orange. Go Tigers!

^ This. Dabo’s love for his wife and what she has gone through and what her family has gone through, drives him to put his name and his Foundation behind the breast cancer awareness movement. He and Kathleen have the money and the ability to do this and make a difference. The All In Foundation provides mammogram screening buses and they provided most of the money to establish the women’s screening center at Oconee Medical Center in Seneca, which my wife uses for her mammogram screenings because she is high risk.

based on people I know and don't know who have died from cancer, PANCREATIC cancer is the one that seems 1) like it is caught late, and 2) is a death sentence.
