Do any of you who view Tnet on your phones have problems with the page constantly refreshing and taking you back to the top of the page while you’re reading? Also the last few days I’ll have an ad pop up 10 times while reading the same article. Very frustrating.

If I closed it, it would keep popping up. I tried signing out and back in and it would do the same thing.

Was it a best buy ad? If so, that is the rogue ad we have been trying to track down and block.

Amen. Still using old HTML backbone to run it.

It needs a severe overhaul from the ground up.

incorrect. If not, please let me know what you mean by that, I'm really curious.

What exactly needs a severe overhaul? I have no doubt we have one of the most technically advanced fan sites on the web due to both of us having computer science degrees (including 1 masters). Whether or not you like the visual design, which is totally subjective, the technical aspects are not and are extremely solid. We can handle huge traffic spikes as tend to happen after big losses, etc. with no trouble.

I would really love to hear your feedback either here or via tmail / email on why you think that. If we are missing something I'd like to know about it so we can improve it.

Thanks!

Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are not just trolling or someone from another clemson site.

Did you use the web in the 90's? Here are some late 90's versions of Tnet and Yahoo. Regardless if you like our current design, I don't think it really looks like the 90s.

No need to get pedantic or defensive, I'm not ######## on the site as a whole you guys have done a commendable job and I appreciate it, I'm just saying the site looks/feels dated. I do this for a living, so definitely not a troll.

I'm not the only one saying it either:

I actually don't care about the design itself nearly as much as the usability.

The main issues I have are:

- Having mobile and desktop versions, especially with such stark design differences, is quite jarring. It feels like two completely different websites. A responsive/adaptive site would be preferable. I always just request the desktop version as mobile feels too clunky.

- The mobile version tends to be buggier. It doesn't always load smoothly, "jumps" before you can click things causing you to click other links unintentionally.

- The random full-screen mobile ad is beyond obnoxious (I don't mind ads in general, just that particular kind)

- reply notifications could be better

I wouldn't say anything if I didn't actually use the site. I WANT it to improve, which is a good thing. So don't take anything I say as a failure on your part. Just an opinion.

Thanks for the detailed feedback. It can be frustrating when people throw around terms like 90's and dated, but when asked for more detail on why, they can't provide any.

You bring up some valid criticisms, although I'm still not seeing the relation to 90's websites. If you can think of any specifics on that let me know, but nobody has been able to yet.

separate Mobile / desktop sites - believe me I would rather have a responsive site, but I do feel it limits your design choices quite a bit and the mobile site ends up looking very plain and cookie cutter. I do agree the dark mode feel of the mobile site does not match up well to the desktop and that is on the list to fix, but to me the mobile site is very easy to use and super fast.

mobile version jumps - I can't recreate this on my phone. Can you tell me what phone you have? Mine loads instantly with no such jumps. CLS as you probably know is a big deal and to my knowledge we don't have any but if we do I want to fix it.

random full screen ad (hulu and best buy) - these are rogue ads, meaning we do not allow full screen ads on our site, but our ad management company has been unable to track down the source. its infuriating to us, but i'm sure more to you. just know that we would not show those type of ads on purpose.

reply notifications - are very basic I agree (also on the list)

Feel free to tmail me any time, I always really appreciate constructive feedback.

Can you at least acknowledge that we have some really cool features no other sites have, such as the territory tracker https://www.tigernet.com/clemson-forum/thread/tigernet-territory-tracker---now-live!-2303980?tstart=0 and recruit rank tracker https://www.tigernet.com/clemson-football/recruit/sammy-brown-4189 just to name a few.

Thanks!

Of course. The criticism I gave is a tiny fraction of this site. I could have worded it better, and that's my fault.

I appreciate it. I try not to let those type comments get to me, and I do love constructive feedback.

I think there are a few easy things I can do to modernize it a bit. I had the thought at one point to just embrace the retro and go full 90s / 8-bit style, but not sure people would understand, hah.

fun fact - chatGPT thinks the site was made in "late 2000s to early 2010s" based on screenshots I gave it. Which is probably fairly accurate, although our most recent design changes were around 2021

Agreed. I'm a donor and have zero problems with the mobile app. And what's more I like that the format doesn't change very often. I get so sick of constant updates that change where you click a button. But them I am also getting more and more aggravated at random people walking on my front lawn too.

For me it is mainly on the board. A few other posters have already detailed what their problems are so I won’t give a detailed response on that since it has already been stated. Basically the site continuously crashes while reading comments and takes me back to the top of the page and this will happen multiple times while on the same thread. Then of course the full screen Best Buy ads.

Not trying to hate on TigerNet, I love the site and am glad it exist. Just trying to point out the issues I have been experiencing and it seems like some others are also.

As for the pop up ad - is that a full screen thing? If so, that is a rogue ad we are trying to get tracked down and blocked, sorry about that!
