Mark Packer had best explanation I have heard as to why

FSU got hosed and committee is full of ####.

He used the committee’s own reasoning against them. Basically committee’s excuse for leaving FSU out is Travis’s injury. He said Travis got hurt 2 weeks ago. Why didn’t committed drop them out of Top 4 then? Instead they actually ranked them in Top 4 going into Saturday and they won. What changed?

It was a compelling argument. He stopped short of calling out ESPN as they cut his paycheck.

Even more stupid logic is FSU was dropped to #5 after the injury, IIRC, then back to #4 after the win at Florida with the backup (#2qb). Sooooooo, dropping them out after winning with #3 qb, knowing #2 qb will be back for the playoff game.

Hope this whole committee is done/fired before the selections of the non-conference champs next year.

They didn't think far enough head and I believe they truly thought UGA would beat Bama. Especially after the showing Bama had a week before needing a miracle to beat a bad Auburn team.

I am 100% convinced as soon as the Bama vs UGA game ended, FSU's fate was decided and there was nothing they could have done on the field vs Louisville to change it

SEC Champion was getting in regardless, after all its really the ESPN/SEC Invitational.

The question was always who were they going to screw, FSU or Texas!

If Jordan Travis never got hurt they were going to scrrewTexas with the argument Alabama isn't the same team from week 2, and the Big 12 was down.

I know how these criminals think.

in, no matter what. I bet if Auburn had beaten Bama, then Bama beat UGA, UGA would not have dropped below #4. Basically, FSU was screwed after the 4th & 31 miracle kept Bama in the picture!

I'm actually not sure they wouldn't have dropped FSU to #5 even if they had stomped L'ville! But in that scenario, they probably would have screwed Texas instead of FSU, by flip flopping Texas and Bama! Rest assured, the SEC was going to get in, regardless of any possible scenario!

I'm wondering why the same didn't apply when OSU won the Natty with their backup QB?

Minor historical footnote, Cardell Jones’ first game was the conference championship and OSU obliterated their opponent.

I disagree with the committees decision, BUT that is bad logic.

The committees argument is not that they demoted FSU because they lost their starting QB, but that after losing their starting QB, the committee watched them for a few weeks and determined that they are not the same team. Again, I don’t agree with the decision, but it’s not invalid because they didn’t ASSUME that FSU would be significantly worse from the first announcement of the injury.

If FSU beats Louisville 46-36 instead of 16-6 they’d be in. It has become reality TV that needs ratings for $$$$. They’d do anything to prevent another TCU or Cincinnati snoozer. CFB is headed towards WWF.

The WWE actually was heavily involved in the Big XII game festivities. It was very weird in the stadium. Even had the logos on the field.

They were still in the top 4 for two weeks after losing their QB. The committee didn't have any sort of epiphany. It's simple. Georgia lost and they couldn't leave the SEC out. If Georgia wins, FSU is in with the other three undefeated conference champions.

I believe it would have helped if they would have played well in the championship. After seeing that game it left no doubt they were not remotely close to top 4.

Kind of wish they would have kept them in where we could listen to everyone ##### about another crappy semifinal game we seem to have every year.

Let’s face it, they dropped them because of Travis, but won the last three games without him to stay undefeated, and the 2nd string QB will be back by playoff time. Also the committee wasn’t putting them in the title game, it was the playoff. FSU deserved to be in the playoff, unbeaten power 5 champ. They literally showed they can win without their starter and back up. They and college football as a whole have been completely disrespected. The committee owes FSU a serious apology and monetary compensation.

I believe they got it wrong and its disgraceful but you could argue that the CFP committee had 2 more games to evaluate FSU and they showed little offense. When Travis got hurt, they did not know how good his back-up were, or the team around him. After a couple games it became clear their offence depended on a good QB to score points.

It was damning that they were allowed to adjust ranking based on injury and coaches being out. This was originally used to make excuses when a team lost a game to keep them ranked higher. Clemson got some benefit when KB got knocked out at Cuse and Tlaw out with covid vs ND. This however was the first time it was used to adjust a team down who still won their games.

FSU has more SEC wins this season then at least 3 SEC teams yet they lost their spot to the SEC and soon-to-be SEC.

Had FSU just said Jordan Travis was week to week they would be in the playoff. Instead they were honest and exclaimed he was done for the season.
