Maybe the renovations are depreciated over a certain number of years

they fall into some other category like " academic capital improvement" that would get more tax benefits or state funding.

Renovations fall under a different spend category. Even though the upgrade benefitted the Basketball program the most, LJ still makes money from other avenues i.e. Concerts, shows, ect.
