It's only racism when you don't vote for black democrats silly. If it's a black republican you can proudly slander them and call them every name in the book. What would you expect from a party full of jew haters?

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.
- Jonathan Swift

Speaking of Jew-hating......

Want to take a stab at who's quote this is?

“There is a REASON the liberal media fills the airwaves with programs about the NAZI and the ‘6 million Jews’ they murdered. There is also a REASON those same liberals DO NOT FILL the airwaves with programs about the Communist and the 100+ million PEOPLE they murdered throughout the 20th century.”

I'll give you a hint: same person has also proudly quoted Hitler on more than one occasion.

I find it fascinating that so many people get sucked into the politics

I think more and more people are seeing things differently, but the sheer number of people who can't see past the rhetoric is honestly....scary. Smart people who I know would otherwise know better. People schooled in history and politics, they know, or SHOULD know. But year after year, election after election, decade after decade, nothing changes. And people need to understand this isn't a dem or pub problem, and there isn't a dem or pub solution to it. The history people know, this is a democracy problem. We're trained to think democracy is some holy, divine, perfect form of government. It isn't. It is a preferable form of government, with the proper controls and structure in place, but by itself, it's NOT PERFECT AT ALL. Democracy gave France the French Revolution. By embracing a structure as a republic (albeit democratic), America avoided that. THAT is the difference between the French and American Revolutions. We worked mightily at our founding to avoid the tyranny of the majority. That can lead to things like the Committee for Public Safety and the Reign of Terror, which slaughtered thousands in France. THAT is what democracy, unchecked, causes. And THAt WILL BE OUR FUTURE, if we function as an unchecked democracy.

I didn't pull this Article V stuff out of thin air. There's a reason it exists, and a justification for using it, that's well-rooted in our history as a republic, and well understood by our founding fathers. Forcing term limits and a balanced budget in time would right our ship. But there is no "democratic" solution in Washington, DC to our problems. There is a ZERO percent chance Congress would EVER approve either. A democracy problem by its very definition. Party and rhetoric notwithstanding. The solution lies in statehouses across the country, as diverse as California and Mississippi, and every statehouse in between. Term limits and a balanced budget amendment would pass in both states (by a popular vote). Look for the common ground, and seize it. Otherwise bad actors will, and that's what is happening as we speak.

Heinlein proposed a system of modified democracy not unlike what they once had in Rome, where voting franchise is an earned thing. You want a vote, and earn the title of "full citizen", then first serve. In the military, in public service, somewhere. Doesn't matter if it was the Marine Corps or the Peace Corps...but serve. Show you're willing to put the public good ahead of yourself when called upon to do so.

It's a fascinating proposal, and one I'd be curious to see tried somewhere. It would certainly weed out the self-serving sociopaths who regard people who die in wars as "suckers", and it'd likewise weed out the self-serving freeloaders who are uninterested in either work or service.

I'd be genuinely curious what kind of leadership you'd wind up with. It would certainly eliminate populism.

Starship Troopers had a similar system. That's not what we want, I promise

Then the power rests with the arbiter of who decides who becomes a citizen. An open invitation for corruption or worse.

No, what we have is a predictable, and common problem, from a historical prospective. It is a problem our founding fathers understood. They didn't know how problems would manifest themselves over time, but they knew the inherent problems, and the headwinds the nation would undoubtedly face. And there are many contributing factors, that have evolved over time. The federal income tax, the IRS, the Federal reserve, Social Security, the Equal Protection Clause, Abortion, leaving the gold standard, ALL provide ammunition for unchecked spending, and corruption, and that headwind of centralization of power and control.

Nope, the only recourse, at this point, that our Constitution allows, is one that not surprisingly at all has NEVER been tried. We've had Civil Wars before trying this approach in the past, it's that distasteful for Washington. And ironically, it is the only "constitutional" solution. And again, never tried, and probably never will be unless people wake up. It will be undermined relentlessly, with money flowing (your tax dollars) to buy off the process. And that's assuming it even had enough traction in the first place to need to buy off the process.

Could it work? Sure. Will it work, doubtful. But you never know until trying, and GOOD leadership in the executive branch in this country would inform the people of this option, and wholly support it and promote it. Because as it stands, the history books have shined the light on the path we're on. It ends with a train light in a tunnel that's rapidly approaching. And there's nothing the conductor, or anyone on the train can do. Only someone NOT ONBOARD can pull the lever so the train can change tracks to avoid the collision. That's the 50 states IMO.

Uh...Heinlein was the one who wrote Starship Troopers. And there was no "arbiter" of deciding who was and was not allowed to be a citizen. Every citizen was guaranteed the right to serve, even if you were blind, deaf, and legless...legally, they still had to find a way for you to do your term.

You just had to put in the work.
