2016 Clemson team beats 2023 UMich all day long in my book. I sure as heck didn't see Derrick Henry in UM's backfield this year or the 3 waves of NFL D lineman that Bama had on that team in 2016. Also, DJ Reader, Shaw Lawson and Kevin Dodd wreak havoc on UM Offense.

2023 Michigan reminds me of 2016 Alabama. However, they got to play 2023 Washington instead of 2016 Clemson.

same gameplan just Bama had way more talent. To me this michigan is not alot better than the one uga soundly beat in 2021. 2016 clemson beat 23 Mich by 14

Don't forget that our 2018 Tigers beat the "Greatest of all time" Bammer team. That Bammer team was so good that Stephen A. Smith listed them as all of the top 5 teams in CFB. And Finebaum said the NCAA FC game would not be close, with Bammer winning in a rout. (He was right; just he missed the final score by about 50 points. Dabo shld have ran-up the final score to 51-16 instead of 44-16, to make a point. I loved the 90-yard, 10-minute final drive by our Tigers.)

The only reason I think the 18 Tigers is the best ever is because of dumb A's like the one that wrote this article said Bama 18 was the best college team ever assembled. Fox, Cbs, Espn and every other clown made sure we all knew Bama 18 was the greatest team and then we clearly stomped their tails. If not for the media I might agree with us at number 4.

2016 Clemson vs 2023 Michigan would be a really good game IMO.
Clemson has the edge on offense, Michigan would have the edge on defense.
Both teams have narrow wins over Alabama in the playoffs, I think the Alabama 16 team was stronger than 23 but not by much ( Freshman Jalen Hurts was not great at throwing the ball)
Clemson had a terrible loss to Pitt at home, Michigan had no such blemish on their record, I would put it at Clemson by 3 points maybe…2018 Clemson would be favored by 2 TDs.

UGA at #3 is a joke. The level of competition UGA played in 2022 vs. Clemson's 2018, or even 2016 team isn't even close.
They beat a bad TCU team. Please.

Nobody questioned Notre Dame's credentials entering the CFP in 2018. The Fighting Irish ended the regular season 12-0 with four ranked wins and featured a rising star at quarterback in Ian Book.
Final 44-16
Simply put, nobody saw the Crimson Tide getting blown off the field against Clemson after going unblemished up to that point -- not with a top-5 scoring offense accompanied by a top-15 scoring defense, at least. (Not to mention that going into the game Bama was described as "the greatest college football team ever.")
73-19 Against a 13-0 Notre Dame and the greatest team ever assembled.
